Postgraduate Scholarship in Medical Radiation Sciences

For a suitably qualified candidate with HI degree in science to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in medical radiation sciences; the project is to investigate membrane – ligand interactions using functionalised model membranes, microscope imaging and impedance spectrometry techniques; $25,872 pa; up to three years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Leadership and Coaching in High Stress Workplaces

Two scholarships are available for up to 3 years full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to explore the role of a range of leadership capacities (perspective taking, mindfulness, solutions orientation and positivity) in creating staff engagement, retention, productivity and wellbeing in high stress workplaces; applicants should have HI or 2A equivalent degree in psychology or the psychology of coaching; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $25,627 p.a.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on biotech applications and structural studies of fungal hydrophobin proteins

This scholarship will provide support for up to 3 years for a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to undertake biophysical, structural and functional studies on fungal hydrophobin proteins with the aim of developing hydrophobin‑based products for biotech, pharmaceutical and industrial applications; applicants should have a HI degree in biochemistry, protein chemistry, molecular biology or biotechnology; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $25,627 p.a.

PhD – Assessing risks with pig movement in Eastern Indonesia

This PhD project, focusing on the critical TAD of pigs in Eastern Indonesia - classical swine fever (CSF) - will strengthen capacity for effective disease control by identifying pig trade patterns that are high risk for CSF transmission in Nusa Tenggara Timor (NTT); a PhD scholarship valued at $25,000 pa is available for an Australian citizen or permanent resident enrolled full-time for up to 3 years to participate in this project.

Postgraduate Scholarship on High- Efficient Power Electronics Circuits Design

This scholarship will provide support for a research project leading to a Masters (up to 2 years) or a PhD (up to 3 years); the objective of the research project is to analysis, design and experiment a new family of high- efficient power electronics circuits for future practical use; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in electrical engineering or electronic engineering; $20,007- $21,000 pa; international students can apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Bioinorganic Chemistry of Chromium Dietary Supplements


This scholarship will provide support for up to 3 years for a research project leading to a PhD; this project will use microprobe and X-ray absorption spectroscopic techniques, mass spectrometry, electronic absorption and EPR spectroscopies and biochemical assays to study bioinorganic chemistry of chromium dietary supplements; applicants should have a BSc(Hons) degree or equivalent with at least a H2(1) Honours in chemistry or a related discipline; $20,007 pa.

Menzies Foundation Allied Health Sciences Scholarships

The Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Foundation is offering up to three research scholarships; $25,000 pa; tenable at an Australian tertiary institution; applicants must be full-time students in a research PhD program which is likely to be completed during the two year tenure of the scholarship; the applicant will generally have completed the first stage of the PhD project and be expected to take up the scholarship during the calendar year 2009; the purpose of the scholarship is to try to improve the health of Australians by supporting an outstanding applicant from one of the non-medical allied health disciplines whose research is likely to fall outside the conventional areas of medical research.
