Postgraduate Scholarship in Medicine - Modular secondary prevention in
coronary artery disease

For a suitably qualified candidate with an appropriate undergraduate
hons degree to undertake a PhD in medicine; the project is to
investigate the role of innovative secondary prevention techniques,
including a modular approach to risk reduction, in patients who have
been hospitalised for an acute coronary syndrome; $29,172 pa; up to 3
years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent
residents or NZ citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Tool Design

For a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research
project is to design and test novel/efficient tools for mining
applications; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in Mechanical
(Mechanics) or Mining Engineering, or a relevant discipline; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens; $25,118 pa; up to 3 years.

NICTA-USyd Research Scholarships

NICTA (National ICT Australia) provides a range of scholarships to
support postgraduate ICT research primarily within the Schools of
Information Technologies (SIT) <http://www.cs.usyd.edu.au/>  and
Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE)
<http://www.ee.usyd.edu.au/>  at The University of Sydney
<http://www.usyd.edu.au/> ; NICTA scholarships may supplement Australian
Government, University, international or NICTA-sponsored primary
scholarships; alternatively, they may be awarded as independent
NICTA-sponsored scholarships.

Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) Postgraduate Research
Scholarship

The Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) awards postgraduate
scholarships to foster research training compatible with ABRS and
National Research Priorities. The ABRS funds systematics research on
Australian flora and fauna and offers postgraduate awards to outstanding
students wishing to pursue higher degrees within this discipline;
$25,627 pa plus research support funding; up to 3 years.

The Australian Pain Society (APS) & Australian Pain Relief Association
(APRA) PhD Scholarship

2 Scholarships will be offered for 2008-2010; $23,000 pa; the award is
to enable full time research leading to a Doctor of Philosophy or
equivalent; applicants must be an Australian citizen and the applicant
and his/her supervisor must be APS members; the funded project can be
related to any aspect of the mechanisms, diagnosis or treatment of acute
or chronic pain.

PhD Scholarships - National Animal Health Information System (NAHIS)
2010

The NAHIS 2010 research project will draw together innovative
methodologies developed under existing Australian Biosecurity -CRC
projects with new systems to deliver a more effective NAHIS; the project
will review current surveillance activities, data sources and reporting;
investigate options for developing new data sources or improving
quality, coverage, analysis or reporting of data from current sources;
develop methods for accessing and linking data from disparate sources;
develop methods to analyses combined data and report in ways that meet
different stakeholder needs; and establish effective and efficient media
to deliver information to stakeholders.

Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) Bursaries for Student
Conference Travel

ABRS offers financial support to postgraduate students in Australian
institutions to travel to a national or international conferences
relevant to both the student's research programme in systematics or
taxonomy and the Aim and Objectives of the ABRS; a maximum of $1,000 is
available for an international conference and $500 for travel within
Australia.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) UK

Applications are invited for the CSFP (UK) awards for: one year taught
masters courses or equivalent degrees; doctoral degrees, of up to three
years duration; one year research on a split-site basis, towards a PhD
registered at a university in your country; applications will normally
be accepted only from candidates who hold, or expect to hold by October
2008, a first degree of at least upper second class honours level, or a
degree of second class and a relevant postgraduate degree; awards are
tenable in all subjects at any UK institution of higher education from
October 2008.

Swiss Government Scholarships

For the academic year 2007-2008 the Swiss Government is offering 2
academic scholarships and 1 artistic scholarship to students from a pool
of countries, including Australia; Australian students may undertake
postgraduate study at any Swiss university or Federal Institute of
Technology and the listed universities of applied sciences; for fine
arts and music scholarship holders can attend the respective public
schools and conservatories.

Australian Friends of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem - M. & N.
Domamsky Trust Fund Grants

This fund will provide grants on an annual basis to non-Jewish
Australian graduates or postgraduates for research, study or gaining
professional experience in Israel for periods of up to one year;
eligibility will be decided by the trustees on the basis of merit, and
priority will be given to persons working in the field of bioclimatology
related to human ill-health.
