PhD Scholarship in nanoscale materials/condensed matter physics

A PhD scholarship is available for an enthusiastic student interested in
nanoscale materials used in electronic applications; the project will
involve state-of-the-art electron microscopy using tools such as
high-resolution electron microscopy as well as advanced chemical
spectroscopy such as electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and X-ray
analysis to understand the role of interfaces in the performance of
these devices; the stipend offered ranges up to $25,000 pa;  APA/UPA
awardees will be given a top-up of up to $8,000 pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Bone Biology

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available from the Bone Biology
Program, ANZAC Research Institute, for a suitably qualified candidate
with an H1 or 2A degree or equivalent, to undertake research studies
leading to a PhD; the research will be conducted at ANZAC Research
Institute to study the effects of glucocorticoids on bone; applicants
must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or citizens of New
Zealand; $25,365 pa; up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Healthcare Services for Older People

For suitably qualified candidates with an hons degree, or equivalent, in
health related discipline to undertake research studies leading to a
PhD; the project is to investigate the effectiveness of transition care
services for older people; $22,000 pa;  up to 3 years; applicants must
be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand
citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarship on High-efficient AC/DC Switching Power Supply
Design

Provides support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project
leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to analysis,
design and implement a new family of high-efficient AC/DC switching
power supplies for future practical use; applicants should have an H1 or
2A degree in electrical engineering or electronic engineering;
$20,000-$25,000 pa; up to 3 years; international students can apply but
the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international
students.

The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) - Rio Tinto Centre for
Mine Automation Scholarships in Field Robotics


The ACFR is seeking students interested in PhD research in the area of
autonomous systems, including data fusion, perception, control, learning
and systems to be part of this exciting new initiative and apply for a
full time scholarship sponsored by Rio Tinto; applicants should have a
H1 degree in mechanical/mechatronics engineering, mining engineering,
electrical engineering, aeronautical/aerospace engineering, mathematics,
physics, computer science or related discipline or extensive appropriate
professional experience; at $25,365 pa; up to 3 years.

Forest & Wood Products Australia Postgraduate Scholarship

To support Australian citizens or permanent residents in full-time study
towards postgraduate research degrees commencing in 2008; scholarships
are awarded for research contributing to nominated priority areas of
interest to Australian forest based industries; up to 3 years; up to
$25,000 pa plus research support grant of $5,000 pa; applicants must
hold a minimum of H2 degree; please note that applications must be
completed and submitted by the student's supervisor.

Meat & Livestock Australia Studentships and Junior Research Fellowships

For full-time postgraduate study commencing in 2008; applicants must be
Australian citizens or permanent residents; MLA Studentships
(Masters/Diplomas) are to for a master's degree or diploma training in
areas relevant to the Australian meat and livestock industries; MLA
Junior Research Fellowships are for a PhD or equivalent level in
disciplines relevant to the Australian meat and livestock industries.

Australian Rotary Health Research Funding Partners Scholarships

Various scholarships are open to full-time PhD students; applicants must
be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia; $25,000 pa;
up to 3 years; PhD Scholarship investigating Suicide in Men; PhD
Scholarship investigating Lung Cancer; 2 PhD Scholarships investigating
Bowel Cancer; PhD Scholarship investigating Breast Cancer; PhD
Scholarship investigating Brain Tumours; 

PhD Scholarship investigating Ovarian Cancer

Asthma Research Postgraduate Scholarships 2008

For researchers in biomedical and medical science investigation seeking
to undertake full-time research for higher degrees; research may be in
basic medical sciences, or in clinical or psychological investigation;
scholarships are tenable for 1-3 years; stipend rate and allowance are
similar to APA; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents.

Other Scholarships

 

AW Howard Memorial Trust Research Fellowship

For suitably qualified students in agricultural science, natural
resource management, agricultural economics and social science who are
intending to commence or have started approved post-graduate tertiary
studies (Masters or Doctorate degrees) that relate to the development,
management and use of pastures; $5,000 "top up" stipend; up to 3 years;
open to Australian post-graduate students enrolled or intending to enrol
at any tertiary institution located in Australia, or students who have
been continuously resident in Australia for 3 years immediately
preceding the closing date of applications.
