PhD Scholarship - Colonial Cosmopolitanism and Chinese Modernity: German Economic and Cultural Adventurers in China 1870-1937

The successful PhD scholarship candidate will work on a topic within this project and under the supervision of Dr Yixu Lu (USyd) and Prof. David Goodman (UTS); applicants should have a good BA Hons, a completed Masters or equivalent; applicants must have a good working knowledge of German and English and be able to work in them at a high level of literacy and understanding; $25,400 pa; up to 3 years

APAI - Optimal Management of Corrosion by Biodegradation of Polymer Coatings in Sour Media

For a research project leading to a PhD; this is part of a national research project designed to carry out comprehensive and in-depth study of the chemical and microbiological stability of polymeric and inorganic linings in the gas phase of sewer systems; applicants should have an H1 degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens; $26,140 pa; up to 3 years; a top-up can be negotiated for high achieving students.

APAI - Human Oöcytes for Stem Cell Research: Donation and Regulation in Australia 

For a research project leading to a PhD; the objective of the research project is to explore the bioethics of research oöcyte donation for Australian stem cell research; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in social science, gender studies, science studies or bioethics and have some experience with empirical qualitative research; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $26, 140 pa; up to 3 years; for commencement from July 2008.

Postgraduate Scholarships in Vision & Eye Health Research at the Save Sight Institute

2 scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in vision and eye health research; a good hons degree in the biomedical sciences or a medical, optometry, veterinary or dental degree is required; the projects available range from basic laboratory science to clinical studies and include studies of normal eye development and ageing, eye disease and visual function; $25,000 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Eiffel Doctorate Scholarships

The 3 fields covered by the program in 2008-2009 are: Sciences, Economy and management, Law and political sciences; only students up to 30 years old and involved in a co-supervision or in a cotutelle PhD (between Australia and France) can apply;  €1,400 pm;  up to 10 months plus return air travel to France and medical coverage.
