Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Visual Cognition

For a suitably qualified candidate with an hons degree in psychology to
undertake research studies leading to an MSc or PhD in psychology; the
project is to investigate the role of features and holistic information
in object and face recognition; $19,616 pa; up to 3 years; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarship in History of Early Modern Science

For a suitably qualified candidate with a good hons degree in history
and/or philosophy of science to undertake research studies leading to a
either Masters or PhD in history and philosophy of science; the project
is on the origins of scientific experimental practices: from the
anatomical theatre to the conversations of the Royal Society; $19,616
pa; up to 2 years for a Masters or 3 years for a PhD.

CSIRO - OCE Postgraduate Scholarship 2007 - Single-Molecule Conduction

For a suitably qualified candidate with a high quality hons degree,
MSc/MEng or similar in a relevant field such as chemistry, physics,
physical chemistry, materials science, or nanotechnology, to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD; the project supports the development
of novel, molecular-scale building blocks for information processing and
for single-molecule sensors; may be awarded as a full scholarship valued
at up to $25,000 pa or a top-up scholarship valued at up to $7,000 pa;
up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian
permanent residents.

Other Scholarships

 

Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award

2 types of awards are available: a Research Award to support
postgraduate research and a Conference Award to enable attendance at
scientific conferences; applications should be for field work on the
behaviour and ecology of native Australian birds, or conservation
biology of threatened native birds and management of their habitats, or
travel to conferences within Australia by postgraduate students to
deliver a presentation or contribute a paper or poster related to
Australian birds; $500 - $5000 for research projects; up to $500 for
conferences; grants for research projects are renewable for 2-3 years.

Professor Allen Keast Research Award

The award is for research only and applications should be for field work
on the behaviour and ecology of native Australian birds or conservation
biology of threatened native birds and management of their habitats;
$500 - $5000; renewable for 2-3 years.
