Postgraduate Studies in the US, Canada, & UK

The Research Office will be hosting an information session for students
who are interested in doing postgraduate studies in the US, Canada, and
UK.  The session will run from 11am - 1pm on Wednesday 8 August, in
Carslaw Lecture Theatre 173.  Interested students should refer to the
flyer available from http://www.usyd.edu.au/ro/training/index.shtml for
further details.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Design and Public Policy

For a research project leading to a PhD; 2 scholarships are available,
one for an applicant with an H 1 or 2A degree in design computing,
computer science, information technology, or related discipline and one
for an applicant with an H1 or 2A degree in architecture, urban design,
public policy, law or related discipline; $25,365 pa; up to 3 years;
international students may apply but the scholarship doesn't cover
tuition and fees; successful applicants will be expected to commence
full-time PhD studies in Semester 2, 2007. 

Closing Date: 31 July 2007

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Computational Rheology and Tribology

For a suitably qualified candidate with a good hons degree in science or
engineering to undertake research studies leading to a PhD; the project
is to investigate the lubrication problems at nano-scales with
applications in nano-technology; $19,616 pa; up to 3 years;
international students can apply but the scholarship does not cover
tuition fees payable by international students; the successful applicant
is expected to enrol by 31 August 2007.

Postgraduate Research Scholarships in Wireless Networking (Two
Scholarships) 
2 postgraduate research scholarships are available for suitably
qualified candidates with an undergraduate degree in Electrical
Engineering or Computer Sciences; successful applicants will be required
to be enrolled in a Masters degree by research at the School of
Electrical & Information Engineering in Semester 2, 2007; the projects
are Multi-layer Mesh Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks; $12,000 pa;
up to 1 year.

Lucy Firth Sydney University Postgraduate Scholarship

Candidates must have completed 4 years undergraduate training, or 3
years undergraduate followed by a year of graduate training, and must in
the last year of his or her course have obtained a degree with H1 or H2
(1), provided that the marks achieved are in the higher range of
Division 1, or hold an equivalent qualification, and be enrolled for a
full-time PhD in Psychology; $16,500 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must
be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Closing Date:  13 August 2007

 

Winifred O'Neill Sydney University Postgraduate Scholarship

Open to full-time postgraduate students in the School of Psychology; the
award will be based on meritorious performance in Undergraduate
Psychology; preference will be given to students who are visually
impaired or, if there is no visually impaired applicant, to students
with other disability; $3,570 pa;  up to 3 years.

School of Psychology PhD Completion Scholarships Semester 2, 2007

For students enrolled on a full-time basis in the School of Psychology
in Semester 2, 2007; applicants must intend to submit their thesis by
the March 31, 2008 census date, and not have any other financial award
during this final period of their candidature; it is expected that
applicants will be in the 8th full time equivalent semester of their
candidature; the scholarship will provide the equivalent of an APA
stipend covering the period leading up to the relevant census date, with
a maximum period of 6 months.

The Anthony Rothe Scholarship

To support a postgraduate student undertaking full-time studies leading
to a PhD; the field of study must be in accordance with the objectives
of the Trust, namely into the cause, prevention, treatment or cure of
leukaemia and allied blood disorders; $28,000 pa for a maximum of 3
years payable only while the candidate remains an enrolled student of
good standing.
