Research Scholarships

 

Master of Philosophy Scholarship - microRNA Bioinformatics

This scholarship will provide support over 1 year, on a full time basis,
for research leading to the award of Master of Philosophy; the objective
of the research project is to develop bioinformatics algorithms for the
identification and characterisation of microRNAs important in
hemopoiesis;  applicants should have, or be expecting to complete in
2007, an Honours Class 1 degree from an Australian University (or
equivalent) in bioinformatics with strong programming skills in either
PERL or Java; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents, or NZ citizens; $24,851 up to $28,000 depending on
experience.

Australian Biological Resources Study 2008 PhD Research Scholarship
Award

ABRS funds systematics research on Australian flora and fauna and offers
postgraduate awards to outstanding students wishing to pursue higher
degrees within this discipline; applicants must hold a 1st class or
upper 2nd class hons degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline,
be strongly motivated to undertake a project in systematic biology;
enrol as a full-time PhD student, and be permanent residents or citizens
of Australia; at $25,627 pa (in 2007) plus an annual research support
grant of $2,500; up to 3 years.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program

The Fellowships are granted annually to women pursuing graduate
PhD/doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences and aerospace-related
engineering; women of any nationality pursuing a PhD/doctoral degree who
demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related
sciences and aerospace-related engineering may apply; US$10,000; up to 1
year.

Overseas Scholarships

 

The British Chevening Scholarships

The awards are made for 1 year's formal study for a postgraduate
qualification or for a shorter period of not less than 3 months to
pursue private study or research at a university or similar institution
in Britain.; Chevening scholarships are targeted towards a broad range
of fields and disciplines but priority is given to the following areas:
science and innovation, new and renewable energy resources and energy
security, global environmental issues, science policy, sustainable
development, human rights, political science; benefits includes a return
economy airfare to the UK from any Australian city, all compulsory
academic fees, monthly stipend, book allowance, and thesis allowance.
