Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships (in
Chemistry related to Industry and Agriculture)
Approximately 7 scholarships are funded each year by a bequest from the
estates of Henry Bertie and his wife Florence Mabel Gritton; the
scholarships are to promote the knowledge and study of Chemistry in
relation to Industry and Agriculture, including Chemistry connected with
Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Chemistry and Chemistry in its
application to the Mining and the winning and treatment of minerals and
natural products of the soil; value, tenure and benefits are similar to
that of the APA.

Richard Claude Mankin Scholarship (in water conservation)
Funded by a bequest comprising the residual estate of Winifred Roby
Mankin to promote and encourage research at The University of Sydney
related to water conservation; value and tenure are similar to that of
the APA.

G.C. Henderson Research Scholarship (in history of the Polynesian,
Melanesian and Micronesian communities)
Funded by a bequest from Professor G.C. Henderson to promote and
encourage research into the history of the Polynesian, Melanesian and
Micronesian communities; open to full-time postgraduate research
candidates intending to enrol in the Department of Anthropology or
History; tenure and benefits are similar to that of the UPA.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Renal Medicine
For a suitably qualified candidate with a good hons degree in medical or
biomedical science to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in
medicine; the project is to investigate the molecular mechanisms between
innate and adaptive immunity in kidney ischemia reperfusion injury and
allograft rejection using different rodent models and to identify
potential therapeutic targets to prevent and/or manage early (ischemia
reperfusion injury and acute rejection) and late (chronic immunological
rejection) events in the pathway to chronic renal allograft dysfunction;
$19,616 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

PhD Scholarship in Ophthalmic Science
A PhD scholarship is offered to take a comparative proteomic approach in
identifying early candidate biomarkers for diabetic retinopathy using
serum, vitreous and retina; applicants must have at least 1 year's
experience in mass spectrometry techniques such as MALDI TOF MS, LC ESI
MS/MS and LC MALDI MS/MS; $24,000 pa; up to 1 year; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Australia US Trade Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship
This scholarship will provide support for up to 3 years for a research
project leading to a PhD in the Faculty of Economics and Business; the
objective of the project is to develop a stronger understanding of
behaviours, intentions, perceptions and experience in Australia-US
business relations; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in
business or economics; $25,365 pa.

Other Scholarships
Australia Malaysia Fellowships
Available as part of Education and Science program of the Australia
Malaysia Institute; the award is intended to cover an economy airfare to
and from Malaysia, approved internal travel and an accommodation and
living allowance; tenable for 6-12 weeks; fellowships must be completed
by 30 May 2008; Australian nationals, normally employed in Australia as
academics or researchers at a tertiary level, and Australian
postgraduate students enrolled at Australian universities may apply.
