Research Scholarships
APAI Scholarship in Molecular and Structural Biology
The scholarship is in structural studies of enzyme inhibitor complexes and the treatment of inflammatory diseases; objective of the research is to investigate the crystal structures of human VAP-1/SSAO inhibitor complexes; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in biochemistry/molecular biology; experience/background in the use of recombinant techniques for the over-expression of proteins and in protein chemistry an advantage; $25,118 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Myee Codrington Scholarship in Microsurgery
Open to a graduate to undertake a Master of Surgery (by research); involves microsurgical training and the investigation of the ability of donor leucocyte subpopulations to prolong organ allograft survival; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens and have a medical qualification from an Australian university or other recognised institution and basic surgical training as approved by recognised institutions; $35,000 pa for one year with possibility of an extension of a further year.

PhD Scholarship in Tumour Biology
The scholarship is available in the tumour biology laboratory at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research; the project will investigate the mechanisms of action of a tumour suppressor protein in breast cancer cells; applicants must have completed a recent degree in a biological science discipline with at least honours 2-1; ideally have some experience in cell or molecular biology or protein biochemistry; $30,600 pa for one year with possibility of an extension of a further two years.

Other Scholarships
Birds Australia Research Awards
Applications unrelated to native Australian birds are not eligible; postgraduate students (including honours) studying at institutions around Australia are eligible to apply; grants are between $500 and $5,000 for research projects and up to $500 for conferences.
Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award - 2 types: Research Award to support postgraduate research; and Conference Award to enable attendance at scientific conferences.
Professor Allen Keast Research Award - for research only.
