Forest and Wood Products Research Development Corporation (FWPRDC) -
Call for Postgraduate Scholarship Applications
The FWPRDC invites scholarship applications from Australian citizens or
permanent residents for full-time study towards postgraduate research
degrees tenable at Australian Universities in 2007. Scholarships are
awarded for a maximum of 3 years for research contributing to nominated
priority areas of interest to Australian forest based industries.
Completed proposals under the name of proposed principal research
supervisor should be sent to the FWPRDC.

RESEARCH: Biomedical engineering; Systematics research on Australian
flora and fauna; Meat & Livestock
Research Scholarships
John York Research Scholarship in Biomedical Engineering
A PhD scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate; the
project is to understand mechanisms of inflammation and joint damage in
inflammatory arthritis and developing biomaterials for cartilage and
bone regeneration; $19,000 pa; up to 3 years.

Australian Biological Resources Study Postgraduate Scholarship
For PhD research on Australian flora and fauna; open to Australian
citizens or permanent residents; candidates should hold a Hons 1 or 2A
degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline and be strongly
motivated to undertake a project in systematic biology; stipend is
equivalent to APAI ($25,118 pa in 2006); an annual research support
grant of $2,500 is also provided to assist with research costs.

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) R&D Postgraduate Scholarships and
Study Awards
MLA invites applications from Australian citizens or permanent residents
for the 2007 postgraduate scholarships and study awards tenable in
Australia or overseas; priority areas for 2007 relevant to the red meat
industries include on-farm productivity, sustainability, rangeland
management and technology transfer; up to 2 years for Masters studies or
up to 1 year for a postgraduate diploma course with a stipend of $20,000
pa and a technical assistance grant of $2,000 pa -$4,000 pa; up to 3
years for PhD studies with a living allowance of $25,000 pa and a
technical assistance grant of $6,000 pa -$8,000 pa.
