Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Design and Public Policy

2 scholarships will be awarded for a research project leading to a PhD;
1 for an applicant with an H1 or 2A degree in design computing, computer
science, information technology or related discipline, and 1 for an
applicant with an H1 or 2A degree in architecture, urban design, public
policy, law or related discipline; the aim of the research is to develop
an instrument to measure the public's capability to design and apply
that instrument to the assessment of public infrastructure projects;
$24,851 pa; up to 3 years; applicants should be Australian citizens,
Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; international students
may also apply but the scholarship may not be used for tuition and fees.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on the Economic Impacts of
Disease in Older Workers

For a research project leading to a PhD; the aim of this project is to
examine the relationship between health and work and determine the
economic impacts of disease on older workers, aged 45 to 65 years, using
complex microsimulation modelling; the successful applicant will work in
Lismore at the Northern Rivers Department of Rural Health; applicants
should have an H1 or 2A degree in economics, computer science,
mathematics or health sciences and experience in statistical
analysis/modeling with large data sets using SAS; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens;
$25,118 pa plus a top-up of $6,000; up to 3 years.

Sustainable Energy Research (SER) Scholarship-Offshore Wind Energy

2 scholarships are available; for a research project leading to a PhD;
the project will develop a series of models for offshore wind farms,
including wind and waves loading, scour, liquefaction and vibration of
structures; applicants should have an H1 or 2A degree in Civil
Engineering, Coastal Engineering, IT/Computer Science, Meteorology,
Applied Mathematics or equivalent; $19,231 pa; up to 3 years.

ANSTO/USyd Scholarship in Molecular and Microbial Biosciences

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with an honours degree in science to undertake
research studies to leading to a PhD in Molecular and Microbial
Biosciences; the project is to study bio-molecular structures and
interactions in signalling and regulation using a variety of biophysical
tools including X-ray and neutron solution scattering and
crystallography; $24,851 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Overseas Scholarships

 

The Tempe Mann Scholarship

Available to women who hold a masters or doctorate degree from or who
are enrolled as a masters or doctorate degree student at The University
of Sydney for 2007; for a short period of advanced research or course
work in any field at an overseas university or equivalent organization;
up to $7,500; to be applied to the cost of successful applicant's
expenses incurred in the designated study program.

Other Scholarships

 

Felix Arnott Residential Scholarship for Post-graduate Students 2007

St Paul's College, the oldest university college in Australia, is an
all-male College within the University of Sydney; the scholarship will
be offset against residential fees to a total annual value of
approximately $15,000; reasonable research expenses may also be approved
by the College Council; up to 1 year; may be extended annually by the
Council; the applicant will ordinarily be enrolled full-time in a
Masters degree by research or a PhD at the University of Sydney.

Ernst Meyer Prize

The Geneva Association awards every year the prestigious "ERNST MEYER"
Prize for university research work, usually in the form of a doctoral
thesis, which makes a significant and original contribution to the study
of risk and insurance economics.
