ANSTO/USyd Scholarship in Molecular and Microbial Biosciences

Open to a suitably qualified candidate with an hons degree in science to
undertake research studies to leading to a PhD in Molecular and
Microbial Biosciences; the project is to study bio-molecular structures
and interactions in signalling and regulation using a variety of
biophysical tools including X-ray and neutron solution scattering and
crystallography; $24,851 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

The Fiona Stanley Scholarship for Collaborative Research in Child and
Youth Health

Available from Semester 2, 2006; for a suitably qualified candidate to
undertake multi- and trans-disciplinary collaborative research in Child
and Youth Health leading to the award of a PhD from one of the Health
Faculties; $19,231 pa;  up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian
citizens, NZ citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Bruce Veness Chandler Research Support Scholarship in Food Chemistry No.
2

The School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences invites applications
for research support funding from full-time postdoctoral or postgraduate
candidates; the scholarship encourages research involving the
application of chemical techniques for the study of any aspect of food;
the value of the scholarship will vary depending on the availability of
funds.

Closing Date:  24 November 2006

 

National Breast Cancer Foundation Doctoral Research Scholarship

Open to students who are engaged in any discipline of research
specifically relevant to breast cancer, including but not limited to:
behavioural, biomedical, clinical (including allied professions such as
nursing or physiotherapy), epidemiological, health economics, health
services, public health, psychosocial; approx. $30,000 pa; up to 3
years.

Ian Scott Scholarship - PhD Scholarship in Mental Illness

The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund invites applications from
recent graduates looking to build a career in research relevant to
mental illness; $26,000 pa plus incidental support funds; up to 3 years;
only applicants commencing their 1st or 2nd year of PhD are eligible to
apply; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Closing Date: 28 July 2006

 

Heart Foundation Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Open to nursing, medical or science graduates seeking support for
full-time research studies leading to a PhD; awarded for research in
cardiovascular disease and related disorders; up to 3 years; applicants
should be Australian citizens or have permanent resident status at the
time of application; $28,600 pa (for medical graduates) or $21,574 pa
(non-medical graduates).

Australia - Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation Postgraduate
Fellowship

1 fellowship will be offered to support a student enrolled in a
postgraduate degree at an Australian University to spend up to 6 months
working in a research laboratory in Israel; 1 fellowship will be offered
to a student enrolled in a postgraduate research degree at an Israeli
University to spend up to 6 months working in a research laboratory in
Australia.

Closing Date:  28 July 2006

 

2007 General Sir John Monash Awards

8 awards are available to Australian citizens judged to have outstanding
academic achievement, community consciousness and service and leadership
potential in their field and the community; up to $150,000 over 3 years;
for postgraduate studies at any of the best universities overseas.

Neville Whiffen Scholarship

Open to PhD or MSc students in the Human Nutrition Unit at the
University of Sydney; provides funding towards attendance at a
conference in Australia or overseas; the value of the scholarship will
vary depending on amount requested and funding available.

Student Research Grants for Threatened and Rare Species in NSW

The Fisheries Scientific Committee will award several small student
research grants aimed at filling gaps in research information for
threatened and rare fish species in NSW.

Closing Date:  10 July 2006

 

2006 Leigh Sparrow Study Award

The Australasian Soil and Plant Analysis Council invites applications
for assistance to attend conferences or meetings that aim to advance the
understanding and application of soil and plant analysis; the amount of
the award is usually around $1,000-$1,500.  

Closing Date:  16 June 2006

 

2007 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships

To be used for study, maintenance and travel either in Australia or
overseas; up to 2 years; $9,000 pa; 2 scholarships are available in each
of the following categories:  architecture, ballet, instrumental music,
painting, sculpture, and singing.
