University of Sydney Postgraduate Award (UPA) Co-funded - Semester 2,
2006
Open to applicants who wish to commence a full-time Research Masters or
Research Doctorate degree at the University of Sydney in Semester 2,
2006 ; students who have already enrolled in a research degree at USYD
are not eligible to apply; $19,231 pa in 2006; 2 years for Masters and 3
years for PhD; applicants must be Australian citizens, New Zealand
citizens or have been granted permanent resident status in Australia by
16 June 2006.

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Scholarships 2007


Open to Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents who are
currently residing in Australia (NZ citizens do not need to be residents
in Australia at the time of application); candidates must enrol for a
full-time research degree; for 1 year but renewable to 3 years subject
to satisfactory progress; $19,231 pa (standard), $24,817 pa (for nursing
or allied health professionals) or $28,600 pa (medical/dental graduates
who are registered to practise within Australia).  6 types of
scholarships are now open for applications:

Research Scholarships

 

Ian O'Rourke Scholarship in Patient Safety

The NSW Clinical Excellence Commission invites applications from
suitably qualified graduates to undertake PhD research into patient
safety and quality improvement as they relate to indigenous health;
$29,000 pa; up to 3 yrs commencing 2007.

The Menzies Foundation Allied Health Sciences Scholarships

The Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Foundation wishes to stimulate research
in the allied health science and is now offering 2 research scholarships
in this field; $25,000 pa; open to persons who will be full-time
students in a research PhD program which is likely to be completed
during the 2 year tenure of the scholarship; the Foundation has a
preference for applications from graduates in the disciplines of
clinical psychology, nutrition, nursing, occupational therapy,
physiotherapy and speech pathology but applications from graduates of
other allied health disciplines pursuing a PhD in that field will also
be considered.

Overseas Scholarships

 

DEST Endeavour Programs - Incoming

The DEST Endeavour Programs offer a number of awards for postdoctoral
students and postdoctoral fellows from Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Iraq,
Malaysia or Turkey to undertake short-term research in Australia.  There
are also programs for postgraduate students from designated European
countries, Asian countries, Malaysia and Turkey to undertake an
Australian higher degree for up to one year.  The values of the awards
vary and different closing dates apply.

DEST Endeavour Programs - Outgoing

The DEST Endeavour Programs offer a number of awards for Australian
postdoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term
research in India, Malaysia or Turkey.  There are also programs for
Australian postgraduate students to undertake higher degree studies in
Malaysia and Turkey for up to one year.  The values of the awards vary
and different closing dates apply.

Other Scholarships


 

National Heart Foundation Travel Grant

Open to researchers working in the area of cardiovascular disease or
related areas; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents; limited budget allocation for each NHF closing date:

1 June: for travel in July, August and September 2006

1 September: for travel in October, November and December 2006

1 December: for travel in January, February and March 2007

Please note that each round will have an earlier closing date for
submission to the Research Office.
