The School of Biomedical Sciences Research Completion Scholarship
(SBSRCS)

Open to suitably qualified postgraduate students who have demonstrated
excellent progress in their research degree and who would be aided by
financial assistance to accelerate the completion of their candidature;
must be enrolled full-time in the final stages of their research leading
to a PhD or Masters by research in the School of Biomedical Sciences; up
to 6 months; $20,000 pa pro rata. 

Closing Date:  21 July 2006

 

The School of Biomedical Sciences Research Scholarship (SBSRS)

Open to suitably qualified postgraduate students who have demonstrated
excellent progress in their research degree and who would be aided by
financial assistance to accelerate the completion of their candidature;
must be enrolled full-time and have satisfactorily completed at least 1
full-time equivalent year of research in a project leading to a PhD in
the School of Biomedical Sciences; up to 1 year; $20,000 pa. 

Closing Date:  21 July 2006

 

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Civil Engineering

This scholarship will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis
for a research project leading to a PhD; the project involves an
investigation of the stability of thin-walled sections particularly
hot-rolled and cold-formed steel sections; applicants should have an H1
or 2A degree in civil engineering and an interest in steel structures,
particularly in the areas of experimental mechanics and stability
analysis and design; $24,231 pa.

PhD Scholarship investigating Practical Interventions that Improve
Quality of Life in People with Cancer and their Carers

Applications for a PhD Scholarship in the area of Quality of Life in
cancer are being called for by the Australian Rotary Health Research
Fund; $25,000 pa: up to 3 years; applicants must be eligible to
undertake a PhD program, or be in the first or second years of a PhD
program at an appropriate University or Research Institute in NSW.

PhD Scholarship investigating Non-androgen Therapies for Post-surgical
Prostate Cancer

Applications for a PhD Scholarship in the area of prostate cancer are
being called for by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund; $25,000
pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be eligible to undertake a PhD
program, or be in the first or second years of a PhD program at an
appropriate University or Research Institute in NSW.

GESA Postgraduate Clinical Research Scholarship

Open to medical or science graduates, wishing to gain full-time training
in methodology pertinent to any aspect of clinical research related to
hepatology disorders while enrolled for a PhD; $28,600 pa with medical
registration, $19,231 pa otherwise; up to 3 years; for commencement in
January/February 2007. 

Closing Date: 25 August 2006

 

GESA Postgraduate Biomedical Research Scholarship

Open to science graduates within 5 years of completion of graduate study
wishing to gain full-time research training in basic sciences related to
gastroenterology and hepatology, leading to a degree of PhD; $19,231 pa;
up to 3 years; for commencement in January/February 2007.

GESA Postgraduate Medical Research Scholarship

Open to medical graduates, wishing to gain full-time research training
into health and disease related to the broad field of gastroenterology
and hepatology and related disorders while enrolled for a PhD; $28,600
pa; up to 3 years; for commencement in January/February 2007.

Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards

These awards provide financial support for postgraduate students and
postdoctoral fellows from participating Asian countries to undertake
short-term research in any field of study in Australia, and from
Australia to undertake short-term research in any field of study in
participating Asian countries; 10 awards will be offered in 2007 to
Australian applicants and 10 awards will be offered to Asian applicants;
up to A$25,000.  

Closing Date:  31 July 2006

 

The John Crampton Travelling Scholarships

Open to students of Architecture, Engineering, Fine Arts or Classical
Antiquity wanting to undertake a higher degree in Italy, Germany, Spain,
Greece or any other country considered appropriate; the scholarships
comprise of a living allowance, payment of most compulsory tuition fees
and a travel allowance; up to 2 years for a Masters and 3 years for a
Doctorate.

Closing Date:  31 July 2006

 

Other Scholarships

 

National Heart Foundation Travel Grant

Open to researchers working in the area of cardiovascular disease or
related areas; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents; priority categories can be found on NHF website; for travel
in October, November and December 2006.
