Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Medical Research

Available for a suitably qualified candidate with a degree in
science/medicine to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in the
Department of Rheumatology; the project is to investigate the
therapeutic application of peptides for the treatment of arthritis;
$19,231 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens or
Australian permanent residents.

Initiating Grants Young Investigators and Stipend Enhancement Support

For postgraduate research and tenable in research departments at
Westmead Hospital and Westmead Millennium Institute; the Initiating
Grants Young Investigators provides support for 1 year at the level of
NHMRC stipends for medical and non-medical research students; Stipend
Enhancement Support (new applications only) are for students who achieve
or are applying for external awards of a value less than the value of
the Initiating Grant.

Medical Advances Without Animals (MAWA) Doctoral Research Scholarship

This scholarship is intended to advance the development, validation and
application of non-animal methods in medical research; for a research
program leading to a PhD; $22,500 pa plus approved expenses up to $2,500
pa; up to 3 years; applicants should hold a H1 degree or equivalent
qualification; applicants must be Australian citizens of at least 5
years standing.

Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) Postgraduate
Scholarships

For students interested in working in the Australian cotton industry to
pursue post graduate studies relating to the cotton industry or its
related community activities; projects may be undertaken in any field on
cotton-related research; $32,000 pa; up to 3 years; open to Australian
citizens or Australian permanent residents; applicants with H1
especially those who have gained an APA are especially sought.

Overseas Scholarships

 

Swiss Government Scholarships 2007/2008

2 scholarships are available to Australian students for the academic
year 2007-2008, for postgraduate studies at a Swiss university for any
academic discipline; applicants must be born after 1 January 1972,
monthly allowance of CHF1,820, payment of general semester fees and
medical insurance; up to 1 academic year (9 months).

Other Scholarships

 

National Archives Summer Scholarships

Aimed at university students enrolled in 20th century Australian history
or a related field; awarded for a 6-week period of full-time research
effective for the months of January and February at the National
Archives Canberra Office; offers airfares, accommodation and a stipend
of $300 pw; applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree (3rd
or 4th year), an honours degree, a graduate diploma, a Master or PhD
(1st year only); applicants must be Australian residents and must be
studying within Australia.
