PhD Scholarship in Small-cap Equity Portfolio Management 

A scholarship is available for Semester 1, 06 in small-cap equity
investment management and market microstructure; the research involves
examining the structure, performance, trading activity and portfolio
compositions of Australian small-cap equity funds; applicants should
have at least a H2.A degree in finance or related discipline or a
postgraduate degree with a substantial research component; up to $33,000
pa; up to 3 years.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS) Scholarships
in Field Robotics

Open to candidates interested in PhD research studies in the area of
autonomous systems, including perception, control, learning and systems;
applicants should have an Hons 1 degree in aeronautical/aerospace
engineering, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, electrical
engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or related
discipline or extensive appropriate professional experience; $24,851 pa
+ access to overseas travel grants and other allowances.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in the Assessment of Monitoring Tests 

Open to candidate to undertake PhD research studies in the assessment of
tests used for monitoring individual patient response to treatment;
applicants must have completed at least half the units of study towards
a Master of Clinical Epidemiology degree including advanced units in
epidemiology and biostatistics; $28,600 pa for medical graduates; 1 year
with possibility of extension for 2 more years; applicants must be
Australian citizens.

PhD Scholarship in Mechanisms of Cancer Cell Metastasis 

A scholarship is available for a full-time PhD research in the
characterization of cancer cell motility, invasion and metastasis by
Neural Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (n-WASP) using fluorescence
life-time imaging (FLIM), total internal reflectance microscopy (TIRF)
and electron microscope tomography; applicants should have an Hons 1 or
2A degree or equivalent in cell biology, microscopy, biochemistry,
genetics, biotechnology, anatomical sciences, medical sciences, or
molecular biology; $18,837 pa; up to 3 years; applicants must be
citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Open to candidate to undertake research in trauma care leading to a
Doctoral degree at USYD; applicants must hold an Hons 1 or a masters

Open to candidate to undertake research in injury, trauma and
rehabilitation care leading to a Doctoral degree at USYD; the study will
investigate patterns of hospital treatment of patients with hip and
other fall related fractures; applicants must hold an Hons 1 or a
masters degree in medicine, health sciences, or nursing; $22,500 pa +
conference/field allowance up to $2,500pa; up to 3 years; applicants
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ
citizens.

Australia-US Fellowships 2006-2007

Up to 7  fellowships will be awarded to Australian citizens for
full-time advanced research and study (Masters or PhD) in the US for the
academic year 06-07; the project or study must be in the area of
business, science, technology, medicine or engineering; up to US$25,000
each for 1 year. Macquarie AAA Education Fellowship for Stanford
Graduate School of Business - Available to an Australian citizen
conducting research or undertaking Masters, PhD or post-doctoral studies
in business in the US at Stanford University.

related areas; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents; limited budget allocation for each NHF closing date:

1 September: for travel in October, November and December 2006

1 December: for travel in January, February and March 2007
