Research Scholarships

 

Postgraduate Scholarship in Soviet/Russian Politics

Available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree
in political science or history to undertake research studies leading to
a PhD; the project must be in the field of Soviet and/or post-Soviet
Russian politics; $19,231 pa; up to 3 years.

Overseas Scholarships

 

The Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation Travel Grants and Grants-in-Aid
for 2007

The Catherine Southwell-Keely Travel Grant for 2007:  to pursue research
in the Archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia; $3,500.

The Leone Crawford Travel Grant for 2007:  to undertake overseas
archaeological site research; $5,000.

The Sam Eames Grant-in-aid for 2007:  to pursue research in the
archaeology of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia; maximum value $1,500.

General Grants-in-Aid for 2007:  to pursue research in the archaeology
of Egypt, Cyprus or Western Asia; up to $5,000.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) UK 

For 1 year taught masters courses or equivalent degrees; Doctoral
degrees of up to 3 years duration; or 1 year research on a split-site
basis towards a PhD registered at a university in your country;
applicants must have outstanding academic records and the desire and
capacity to reach the top of their chosen profession; awards are tenable
in all subjects at any UK institution of higher education from October
2007; applicants must be Australian citizens; benefits include return
economy airfares to the UK, approved tuition and other compulsory
university fees, and a personal maintenance allowance.

DAAD Study Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines

Provides foreign graduates of all disciplines with opportunities to
complete a postgraduate or Master's degree course at a German higher
education institution and to gain a degree in Germany (Master's/Diplom);
applicants must, when they commence their scholarship-supported studies,
hold a first degree (Bachelor's, Diplom or comparable academic degree);
715 euros per month; between 10 and 24 months; applicants must no older
than 32 at the commencement of the scholarship.

DAAD Study Scholarships for Artists

These study scholarships aim to provide foreign applicants from the
field of Fine Art, Design, Film, Music and Architecture with an
opportunity to complete a course of extension studies, without gaining a
formal degree or qualification, at a state institution of higher
education in Germany; 715 euros per month; awarded for 1 academic year;
applicants must no older than 32 at the commencement of the scholarship

DAAD Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and
Scientists.

The grants can be used to carry out research projects at a German higher
education institution for the purpose of gaining a doctorate either in
Germany or in your home country; grants can be paid generally for
between 1 and 10 months, in the case of full doctoral programs in
Germany for up to 3 years, and in exceptions for up to a maximum of 4
years; stipend rate depends on the award holder's academic level.

American Association of University Women International Fellowships

Provides support for 1 year of graduate or postgraduate study in the US
to women who are not US citizens or permanent residents; applicants must
have the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree prior to 1 September 2006
and preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the
advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional
work; 3 stipend levels are available based upon the applicant's degree
program.

Other Scholarships

 

Lizard Island Doctoral Fellowships Program

The program is open to applicants who have been accepted into a PhD
program at any university and who plan to conduct field-intensive
coral-reef research at Lizard Island; maximum value is $18,000 ($6,000
pa for up to 3 years) for students enrolled at an Australian university
and $21,000 ($7,000 pa) for those enrolled at an overseas university and
not domiciled in Australia; funds are to be used for field expenses
only.

Maxwell Ralph Jacobs Fund

The fund is used to support worthy projects in any field of forestry
research and to provide graduates within Australasia with support not
readily available from other sources; 2 grants will be allocated at
approximately $2,500 and $1,500 respectively.

Norman McCann Summer Scholarships to the National Library of Australia

Scholarship holders have privileged access to the National Library's
materials and facilities, as well as sustained interaction with many of
its staff; honorarium of $300 per week for the duration of the
scholarship, accommodation and meals in a Canberra university college
and a return economy class air fare; applicants must be under the age of
30 at 1 March in the year they are to commence their scholarship; open
to Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents.

Livestock Congress Student Travel Fellowship

The International Stockmen's Educational Foundation is offering 25
student travel fellowships to the 2007 International Livestock Congress
to be held January 6-11, 2007 in Denver, Colorado, USA; fellowships
include airfare, ground transportation, hotel and scheduled meals.
