Research Scholarships in Science

The Faculty of Science is offering up to 50 new research scholarships to
commencing full-time MSc or PhD candidates in 2006; same value as UPA
($19,231 pa in 2006); up to three yrs; eligible local applicants for
APA/UPA and international applicants for Endeavour IPRS will be
considered.  Top-up scholarships to outstanding local students are also
available.

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) Postgraduate Scholarships

Open to Australian citizens or permanent residents for postgraduate
study in 2006; for research and training in priority topics and which
are relevant to the Australian beef, sheep meat and goat meat
industries.

MLA Studentships: postgraduate Diploma or Masters courses, up to 2
years, tenable in Australia or overseas, $20,000 pa with a technical
assistance grant of $2000 pa -$4000 pa 

MLA Junior Research Fellowships:  postgraduate degree at PhD or
equivalent level; up to 3 years; usually tenable in Australia; $25,000
pa with a technical assistance grant of $6000 pa -$8000 pa 

MLA Study Awards: "sabbatical" type overseas training for established
professional, up to 6 months; US$15,000.

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships to Harvard University 

3 awards are available to students from Australia to undertake
postgraduate study at Harvard University in  2006-2007; applicants must
be Australian citizens, normally resident in Australia; have recently
graduated or are about to graduate from an Australian institution and
have spent at least 2 of the last 4 years at university at the time of
application; have graduated no earlier than 2004 or will graduate before
9/06; applications will not be considered from students who are already
in the US or for undergraduate or postdoctoral study; scholarship
comprises living expenses stipend for single fellow for a 10-month
academic year, tuition and student health insurance fees; up to 2 yrs
for students in degree programs requiring more than 1 yr of study.

Travel grants are available to researchers working in the area of
cardiovascular disease or related areas; applicants must be Australian
citizens or permanent residents; limited budget allocation for each
closing date: 

1 December: for travel in January, February and March 2006

1 March: for travel in April, May and June 2006

1 June: for travel in July, August and September 2006

1 September: for travel in October, November and December 2006
