Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and University of Sydney
Postgraduate Award (UPA) 2006

A reminder that applications for APA and UPA will close on 31 October
2005.  Information and application forms are available from

Jewish Studies Education Scholarships

The Faculty of Education and Social Work and the Inter-Schools Committee
of Jewish Education are offering a number of research higher degree
scholarships in the area of Jewish Studies Education; applicants must
enrol in a research degree in the area of Jewish Studies Education in
the Faculty; open to local and international students; the scholarship
may include a fee waiver for international students; $25,000 pa for up
to 3.5 years for a doctoral student, 2 years for MPhil, and 1 year for
MEd (Research) .

Postgraduate Scholarship in Human Nutrition 

Available for a project to investigate a comparison of ad libitum diets
of varying glycemic index and glycemic load on weight control and
inflammatory risk factors; applicants should have a credit average
Masters degree in Nutrition; demonstrated organisational ability an
advantage; $18,837p.a.; up to three years; applicants must be citizens
or permanent residents of Australia.

CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarships

Available to research students commencing in 2006 and expect to receive
an APA or equivalent University scholarship; to undertake research
aligned with National Research Priorities in partnership with CSIRO; for
projects in CSIRO's National Research Flagships and key research areas
within its divisions; top-up stipend of $7,000 pa for up to 3 years;
$4,000 pa towards operating costs for the project + a single travel
allowance of $6,000 to attend and present at an international
conference; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents.

The Medical Advances Without Animals (MAWA) Trust Doctoral Research
Scholarship

Available for new scientists to advance the development, validation and
application of non-animal methods in medical research and to pursuit of
a research program leading to the award of the degree of PhD; $22,500 pa
+ approved expenses up to $2,500 pa; 3 years; not simply for support of
non-animal research per se; applicants must be Australian citizens of at
least 5 years standing.

The British Chevening Scholarships

Open to outstanding graduates and young professionals for study at UK
universities; assessed on academic merit, achievements, proposed area of
study and future career in line with the stated priority areas; for 1
year's formal study for a postgraduate qualification or > 3 months for
private study or research at a university or similar institution in
Britain; covers monthly stipend, compulsory academic fees, airfare +
other allowances; not available to anyone who has benefited in the last
3 years from other awards funded by the British Government.
