Scholarship Details

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably
qualified candidate with a good honours or masters degree to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in transport studies at the Institute
of Transport Studies at the University of Sydney. The PhD will be in the
broad area of traffic safety with a focus on how driver perceptions of
safety and their on-road decisions impact their relative risk of
exposure to potentially hazardous situations.

Terms/Benefits

The successful applicant will receive $25,000pa (tax free) plus
opportunities to supplement this through provision of teaching and
research assistance to academic staff at ITS.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants for the scholarship should have, or expect to obtain, a good
honours or masters level degree which has involved them carrying out
high quality independent research. Preferred backgrounds include civil
engineering, econometrics, applied statistics, or disciplines with a
strong behavioural focus such as psychology and human geography. It is
particularly imperative the applicant has a solid quantitative
background.

3.      The details of two academic referees familiar with your studies.
4.      A cover letter/statement of no more than 1,500 words outlining
your research interests, which are of relevance to this application.
