Cancer Institute NSW Research Scholar Awards

The Cancer Institute NSW Research Scholar Awards are open to research
students who are engaged in any discipline of research relevant to cancer;
anticipated that applicants will have secured, or will be seeking, a
scholarship from NHMRC or their University of enrolment or other source;
these awards provide additional funding for the scholar's research project
and for travel purposes, to ensure the project is supported at a level that
will allow significant progress; up to 8 awards available; $25,000 pa ; 3
years

Jewish Studies Education Scholarships 2005

The Faculty of Education and Social Work and the Inter-Schools Committee of
Jewish Education are offering a number of research higher degree
scholarships in the area of Jewish Studies Education; applicants must enrol
in a research degree in the area of Jewish Studies Education in the Faculty;
open to local and international students; the scholarship may include a fee
waiver for international students; $25,000 pa for up to 3.5 years for a
doctoral student, 2 years for  MPhil, and 1 year for MEd (Research).

CRDC Postgraduate Scholarships

The Cotton Research and Development Corporation scholarships are open to
Australian residents studying at an Australian university and interested in
working in the Australian cotton industry to pursue post graduate studies
relating to the cotton industry or its related community activities; $29,000
pa; 3 years

Australian Biosecurity CRC PhD Research Scholarships

The Australian Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre for Emerging
Infectious Disease seeks to recruit future leaders in animal and public
health; PhD scholarships are offered for commencement in 2005;.students
should apply for other awards to increase the likelihood of obtaining an
AB-CRC scholarship; full scholarships of $25,000pa  or top-ups to bring the
stipend up to $25,000pa,  $2,000 pa operating /professional development
allowance.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Psychology

Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD in the School of
Psychology; the project is to develop theoretical and evidenced-based
training programmes for novice and experienced firefighters and to
investigate the factors contributing to accidents and errors in the
firefighting context; applicants should have Hons 1 or 2A degree in
cognitive psychology or a related discipline of study and must be Australian
citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens; $23,886pa; 3 years.

MINTRAC Research Scholarships 

National Meat Industry Training Advisory Council Ltd (MINTRAC) scholarships
are available to students undertaking Honours, or Postgraduate Research
Degrees (Masters or PhD) in disciplines relevant to the meat industry;
applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia who will
research in Australia; $17,000 pa for Honours students (up to 1 year),
$22,000 pa for Masters (up to 2 years) or PhD (up to 3 years).

Postgraduate Scholarship in Advanced Gratings for Photonic Crystal Fibres 

Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD; based at the
Optical Fibre Technology Centre at Australian Technology Park; the project
will focus on the development of advanced gratings with properties that are
currently not available today; applicants should have a good honours degree
in science and be able to demonstrate theoretical and applied skills;
preference given to Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents;
$23,886 pa; 3 years.

Australian Bicentennial Scholarships and Fellowships Scheme

Open to Australian postgraduate students; tenable in the UK in 2005;
applicants must be registered as a post-graduate student at an Australian
tertiary institution, or be eligible for such registration at a UK tertiary
institution, and be usually resident in Australia; applicants should have at
least an upper 2nd class honours degree in any discipline; up to £4,000;
successful applicant must spend at least 3 months studying in the UK and
must take up the award by the end of 2005 or forfeit the grant.
