Postgraduate Scholarship in Bio-inorganic Chemistry
Open to candidate with a good Hons degree in chemistry to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD in Chemistry; the project involves the 
development of novel metal complexes containing polyhedral boranes known as 
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT); $18,484 pa; up to 3 years; applicants 
must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or citizens of NZ.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Fibre Optic Dosimetry
Available for a full-time research project leading to a PhD; the project is 
to investigate the generation of light in a scintillator and to optimise 
methods of gathering the light into a fibre optic and detecting it; 
applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in physics; $23,886pa; 3 
years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent 
residents or NZ citizens.

The Medical Advances Without Animals (MAWA) Trust Doctoral Research Scholarship
Available to new scientists to pursuit of a research program leading to a 
PhD to advance the development, validation and application of non-animal 
methods in medical research; not to support of non-animal research per se; 
$22,500 p + approved expenses up to $2,500 pa; 3 year; applicants must be 
Australian citizens of at least 5  years standing.

Dairy R&D Postgraduate Scholarships and Study Awards
The following scholarships are available to Australian citizens or 
permanent residents:
1) Research degrees to PhD level:  Range of $22,000 pa to $27,000 pa + 
operating support of $3000 pa; supplementary funding for applicants who 
have been awarded University scholarships at levels below DAIRY AUSTRALIA 
awards.
2) Coursework degrees in extension and related disciplines: Applicants for 
this funding should have an established track record (at least 2-3 years’ 
experience in extension); no stipend or allowances; only partial support to 
offset the cost of courses.
3) Scholarships for Farmers: Open to farmers to undertake part-time, 
postgraduate coursework education; applicants from a farming background 
should derive at least 80% of their income from dairy-related activities; 
no stipend or allowances; only partial support to offset the cost of courses.

The Cambridge Australia Trust Scholarships
Open to graduates of outstanding academic merit to pursue courses of 
research leading to a PhD at the University of Cambridge; applicants should 
have a Hons 1 degree from an Australian university, who have gained 
admission to Cambridge, and who are successful in winning an Overseas 
Research Student award (ORS); 3 years; covers fees at the UK home rate; a 
maintenance allowance at £650/month or £7,800 for 12 months, air travel to 
Cambridge and the return fare at the end of the course; applicants must be 
citizens of Australia.

CSIRO ATNF Summer Vacation Scholarships
Open to graduate students who have completed three years or more of 
undergraduate education in Physics, Maths, Computer Science, Engineering, 
Electrical Engineering or closely related subjects; 10 to 12 working weeks; 
$480 a week; accommodation costs are paid for by the students; $500 travel 
expenses for students from outside Australia; economy return rail fare, or 
cheapest available return airfare for Australian students living outside 
Sydney.
