Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) in Managing Phytophthora Dieback 
with Phosphite
Open to candidate to undertake research leading to a PhD; the project will 
explore the biochemical and molecular characteristics of Phytophthora-plant 
interactions that determine the effectiveness of phosphite-induced disease 
control in native ecosystems; applicants should have or expected to have an 
Hons 1 or 2A degree in plant science; $23,886 pa for 3 years; applicants 
must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Tunnelling
3 scholarships are available to candidates to undertake research leading to 
a PhD; the project is to improve the understanding of the issues that 
influence the design of ground support measures for arterial road and rail 
tunnels resulting from the changes in technology currently in progress; 
applicants should have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in engineering or science; 
$23,886 pa for 3 years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian 
permanent residents or NZ citizens.

Postgraduate Scholarships in Medicinal Chemistry
2 full-time PhD scholarships are available in the Faculty of Pharmacy; the 
project is to investigate the mechanism and energetics of binding of a 
series of biologically active molecules to host species; applicants should 
have an Hons 1 or 2A degree in chemistry or pharmacy; $18,484 pa for 3 
years; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent

Kidney Health Australia Biomedical Research Scholarships
Open to candidate to undertake full-time research studies leading to a PhD, 
MD or Masters by research, the research should be related to the causes, 
prevention and treatment of disorders of the kidneys and urinary tract; 
$25,000 to $31,000; up to 2 years for Masters, 3 years for PhD; applicants 
must have graduated, or expect to graduate in the current academic year; 
preference will be given to Australian applicants enrolled in Australian 
universities.

Australian Pain Society (APS) and Australian Pain Relief Association (APRA) 
PhD Scholarship
Available for full time research leading to a PhD or equivalent, at any 
recognised Australian University; the project can be related to any aspect 
of the mechanisms, diagnosis or treatment of acute or chronic pain; $22,000 
pa for up to 3 years + up to $1,000 per annum travel grant; the applicant 
must be an Australian citizen and the applicant and his/her supervisor and 
a member of the APS.

Heart Foundation Postgraduate Nursing Research Scholarship
Available for nurses to pursue the research of cardiovascular disease and 
related disorders; the work may be pursued as an investigation in either 
Public Health or Clinical Research; applicants should hold or expect to 
obtain a Hons 1 degree (other equivalent research experience may be 
considered in special circumstances), normally reside in Australia and be 
Australian citizens or permanent residents; $20,736 (non-medical 
graduates), a departmental allowance of $1,340 pa, $660 pa in conference 
travel + thesis allowance of up to $860; up to 3 years.
