Postgraduate Scholarship in Epithelial Ion Transport
Open to candidate with a Biomedical Science degree to undertake research 
studies leading to a PhD in Exocrine Physiology and Biophysics; previous 
experience with using electrophysiology techniques including real-time ATP 
release, calcium imaging and Ussing chamber measurement of ion transport on 
epithelial cells, together with molecular biology skills including 
construction of replication deficient adenovirus and production of 
recombinant fusion protein are essential; $23,000 pa; with the possibility 
of a top-up.

North Shore Heart Research Foundation Scholarship
Available to support postgraduate studies in cardiovascular medicine within 
the Department of Cardiology at Royal North Shore Hospital; the successful 
applicant will need to enrol in a postgraduate research degree in the 
Faculty of Medicine at The University of Sydney; the stipends offered are 
in accordance with the scale for scholarships awarded by the National Heart 
Foundation.

Henry Bertie and Florence Mabel Gritton Research Scholarships  in Chemistry 
related to Industry and Agriculture
Open to graduands or graduates of universities who are members of the 
Association of Commonwealth Universities, graduands or graduates of any 
country who are citizens of a Commonwealth country or Australian permanent 
residents; for a higher degree by research; 2 categories: Postgraduate 
Scholarships - $18,009 in 2003, and Gritton University Medallist Award: 
value to be determined by the selection committee.

Heart Research Institute PhD Scholarships
Open to students with good Honours degrees (or equivalent) for various 
projects leading to a PhD via the University of Sydney; a variety of grants 
are also available at enhanced scholarship rates.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Postgraduate 
Scholarships
Open to candidates with a 1st or upper 2nd class honours degree or 
equivalent in an appropriate discipline and have a strong motivation to 
make a professional career in the further development of Australia's rural 
industries; mature age students with experience in rural industry are 
particularly invited; applicants who have obtained an Australian 
Postgraduate Award and apply to RIRDC on a 'Top-Up' basis will be well 
regarded; $22,500 pa + $3,500 for the host institution to cover the 
student's non-capital maintenance expenses;  up to 3 years; applicants must 
be permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) Postgraduate Scholarships
MLA Studentships - postgraduate Diploma or Masters courses, max. 2 years; 
$20,000 pa + technical assistance grant of $2000 pa -$4000 pa; MLA Junior 
Research Fellowships - postgraduate degree at Ph.D. or equivalent level; 
max 3 years; $25,000 pa + technical assistance grant of $6000 pa -$8000 pa; 
tenable in Australia or overseas.

Nancy E Pendergast Research Fellowship
Open to any person from the medical, scientific, research, paramedical or 
wider health care fields; must involve a research project into Systemic 
Lupus Erythematosus (the causes, diagnoses and treatment of the disease) in 
the State of Victoria; 1 year; $30,000; please note that the research must 
be undertaken and completed in the State of Victoria.
