Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate
Award (UPA) 2004
Open to applicants with, or expect to hold, a first class honours degree or 
equivalent by the end of 2003 who wish to undertake full-time research 
Masters or PhD programs; $18,009 pa in 2003; 2 years for Masters and 3 
years for PhD; Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent 
residents or New Zealand citizens; information and application forms are

Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI) in Energy Efficient Glazing
Open to applicant with a Honours 1 or 2A degree in Physics, Chemistry or 
Materials Science/Engineering to undertake full-time studies leading to the 
award of a PhD; 3 years @ $23,294 pa; applicants must be Australian 
citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.
Closing Date:  10 September 2003

Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Human Production
Open to candidate with a good honours degree or equivalent in science or 
medical science to assist in research studies leading to a PhD in 
embryology; $15,000 pa; 1 year in the first instance; applicants must be 
citizens or permanent resident of Australia.
Closing Date:  12 September 2003

School of European, Asian & Middle Eastern Languages & Studies Research and 
Honours Scholarships
Up to 8 scholarships will be available for local and international 
applicants proposing to undertake a postgraduate research degree (PhD and 
Research Masters) or 4th year Honours in the School in 2004 (to commence in 
March or July semester); $10,000 for postgraduates for 1 year only, $5,000 
for Honours candidates.

PhD Top-Up Scholarships in Econometrics and Business Statistics
Up to 3 top-up scholarships for outstanding students enrolling into its 
doctoral program in 2004; for students who expect to gain an APA or 
equivalent scholarship; candidates should have, or expect to obtain, a 1st 
class honours degree or equivalent in econometrics, applied statistics, 
economics or other related discipline; up to $5,000 pa; 3 years; limited 
tutoring and research assistance work may also be available.

PhD Supplementary Scholarship in Economic Modelling and Analysis
Open to candidates to undertake a Ph.D. program of research; the appointee 
will have a first class honours (or masters) degree in Economics or 
Econometrics, good quantitative and computing skills, and been awarded 
either an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) tenable at the University of 
Sydney or a University of Sydney Postgraduate Award (UPA); $5285 pa; up to 
3 years.

Supplementary Scholarships in the Discipline of Economics
Up to 4 supplementary scholarships are offering to successful 
APA/UPA/IPRS/ADB applicants who will enrol in the PhD program in the 
Discipline of Economics in 2004; approx. $5,000 pa for the duration of the 
APA/UPA/IPRS/ADB; successful APA/UPA/IPRS/ADB applicants will be 
automatically considered for the additional funding and there is no need to 
lodge a separate application.

AHURI Top-up Postgraduate Scholarship in Housing and Urban Research
Available for any full-time student, Masters or PhD, holding an Australian 
Postgraduate Award (APA), Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI), or 
a university awarded scholarship. Applicants must be prepared to work on a 
project which is closely related to the AHURI research agenda; $7,000 pa; 
.up to 3 years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Microscopy (Minerals Analysis)
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in science or engineering to 
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Microscopy and 
Microanalysis; applicants should have a background in Geosciences or 
petrology with an interest in microscopy and 3-dimensional computer 
imaging; skills in other fields such as computer visualisation, image 
analysis and mathematical modeling are also encouraged to apply; 
programming skills (C/C++ or Fortran) will be highly regarded; $18,009 pa; 
up to 3 years; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of 
Australia.

Scholarships in Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
A number of postgraduate research scholarships are available for full-time 
study in any department/school in the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and 
Natural Resources; the eligibility criteria, tenure and benefits are 
similar to that of the APA.

Dairy R&D Postgraduate Scholarships and Study Awards
  1) Research degrees to PhD level:  Range of $21,000 pa to $26,000 pa + 
operating support of $3000 pa; supplementary funding for applicants who 
have been awarded University scholarships at levels below DAIRY AUSTRALIA 
awards; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
2) Coursework degrees in extension and related disciplines: Applicants for 
this funding should have an established track record (at least 2-3 years' 
experience in extension) and be able to demonstrate an ability to use the 
additional training for the benefit of the Australian dairy industry; 
scholarships for the Grad. Dip. in Dairy Production Extension at Massey 
University, New Zealand are also available; applicants must be Australian 
citizens or permanent residents; no stipend or allowances; only partial 
support to offset the cost of courses.

CSIRO, ATNF, CTIP and ICTC Summer Vacation Scholarships
Open to graduate students who have completed three years or more of 
undergraduate education in Physics, Maths, Computer Science, Engineering, 
Electrical Engineering or closely related subjects; 10 to 12 working weeks; 
$480 a week; accommodation costs are paid for by the students; $500 travel 
expenses for students from outside Australia; economy return rail fare, or 
cheapest available return airfare for Australian students living outside 
Sydney.
