Postgraduate Scholarship in Surface Engineering
Open to candidate with at least an Honours degree and preferably also a
Masters degree in materials engineering or equivalent, to undertake
research studies leading to a PhD in the field of surface engineered
biomaterials; applicants with a degree or a major in metallurgy may also be
considered; applicants should have a particular interest in the field of
ceramics, metals, and ideally ceramic-metal composite materials; expertise
in biomaterials would also be advantageous; $15,000 pa; up to 3 years;
applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Forest and Wood Product Research and Development Corporation 2004
Postgraduate Scholarship Awards
Up to 3 awards will be offered for full-time study towards research degrees
(MSc and PhD) commencing in 2004 tenable at Australian universities; the
scholarships are awarded for research contributing to priority areas of
interest to Australian forest based industries; up 3 years; $25,000 pa +
research support grant of $5,000 pa; applicants must possess a min. of a
2nd class honours degree and meet all admission requirements of their
intended academic institution; applicants must be permanent resident or
citizen of Australia.

Australian Rotary Health Research Foundation Bowel Cancer PhD Scholarship
Up to 3 scholarships to full-time PhD students studying in NSW
Universities, in the general health area of Bowel Cancer; preference will
be given to students beginning their PhD in 2004;
$19,000 pa + incidental support funds for a max. of 3 years.

The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Artists Travel Scholarship
Travelling scholarship for visual artists; applicants must be a recent
graduate of Sydney College of the Arts of USYD (applicants must have
graduated from SCA within the past 4 years) and a practising visual artist
or designer; $28,000, paid $14,000 per year over 2 consecutive years.

The Tempe Mann Scholarship
Open to women who hold a masters or doctorate degree from or who are
enrolled as masters or doctorate degree student at USYD; awarded to a woman
to undertake a short period of advanced research or course work in any
field, at an overseas university or equivalent organization; up to $7,500;
for the cost of the successful applicant's expenses incurred in the
designated study program; the scholarship will be taken up in 2004 for a
period to be agreed by the Trustee; applicants must be a financial member
of AFUW-NSW Inc.; be accepted by the overseas university (or equivalent
organization) at which she proposes to study; establish the necessity for
overseas study/research; be permanent resident or citizen of Australia.

Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships to Harvard University
3 awards are available to enable 3 students from Australia to undertake
postgraduate study at Harvard University in the US academic year 04-05;
applicants must be Australian citizens, normally resident in Australia;
have recently graduated or are about to graduate from an Australian
institution and have spent at least 2 of the last 4 years at university at
the time of application; have graduated no earlier than 2002 or will
graduate before 9/04; applications will not be considered from students who
are already in the US or for undergraduate or postdoctoral study; a stipend
sufficient to cover the living expenses of a single fellow for a 10-month
academic year and pays tuition and student health insurance fees; up to two
years for students in degree programs requiring more than 1 year of study.
