Microstructured Polymer Optical Fibre
Open to candidate to undertake research leading to a PhD; applicants should
have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in appropriate discipline; 3 years @ $23,294
pa; the successful applicant would need to commence research by 31 October
2003; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent
residents or New Zealand citizens.

Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI) in Managing Contaminant
Metals in Complex Hydrometallurgical Processes
Open to applicants to undertake full-time postgraduate study in Chemical
Engineering leading to a Masters Degree in Engineering by Research;
applicants should have an Honours degree (HI or HII.1) in Chemical
Engineering, Mathematical or Physical Sciences, or equivalent experience,
excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a
collaborative research team environment is desirable; 2 years @$23,294 pa;
for exceptional applicants, further funding for Doctoral study will be
considered; the successful applicant must be available to commence studies
by late Sept 2003; applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian
permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

Curtin University Silver Jubilee Scholarship
Open to graduates of Curtin University of Technology of not more than 3
years standing and students in their final or honours year at Curtin;
tenable at any recognised university nationally or internationally to
undertake a postgraduate degree; applicants must hold or expect to be
awarded a 1st Class Honours degree or equivalent; max period of 1, 2 or 3
years; A$26,000 pa; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of
Australia.

Open to graduates of outstanding academic merit to pursue courses of
research leading to a PhD at the University of Cambridge; applicants should
have a 1st class honours degree from an Australian university, who have
gained admission to Cambridge, and who are successful in winning an
Overseas Research Student award (ORS); 3 years; covers fees at the UK home
rate; a maintenance allowance at £610 per mth or £7,320 for 12 months, air
travel to Cambridge and the return fare at the end of the course;
applicants must be citizens of Australia.

Australian Bicentennial Scholarships, University of London
Open to Australian postgraduate students; tenable in the UK in 2004;
applicants must be registered as a post-graduate student at an Australian
tertiary institution, or be eligible for such registration at a UK tertiary
institution, and be usually resident in Australia; applicants should have
at least an upper 2nd class honours degree in any discipline; up to £4,000;
successful applicant must spend at least 3 months studying in the UK and
must take up the award by the end of 2004 or forfeit the grant.

Australasian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ASTSS) Annual Awards for
Research into Traumatic Stress
Open to all research disciplines; students, practitioners, researchers up
to and including recently completed PhDs, MDs or other professional
doctorates (no more that 2 years since completion) are eligible to enter;
Chapter (State) award of $250 and Annual ASTSS award of $1,000; study must
be stand alone paper; studies that have been published or accepted for
publication are not eligible.
