Postgraduate Scholarship in Planthopper Taxonomy
Open to candidate with a good Honour's or Master's degree to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD in insect taxonomy; the project is to 
review the taxonomy of Australian members of the leafhopper family 
Cixiidae; applicants should have particular interests in entomology and 
systematics; $17,609 pa (in 2002); up to three years.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Hypertension Genetics
Open to candidate with an excellent honours degree in Medical Science to 
undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medicine; applicants should 
have an in-depth knowledge of the genetics of essential hypertension, in 
particular be competent with the practice of performing genome scans; 1 
year @ $17,609; a possible extension of 6 months; applicants must be 
citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Wind Engineering
Open to candidate with first class honours degree in engineering or science 
to undertake research activities leading to a PhD degree; to investigate 
the dynamic response of tall buildings to environmental wind excitation 
through a variety of wind tunnel testing techniques, and full scale 
monitoring; valued at $25,000 p.a. ; up to three years; applicants must be 
Australian citizens, or permanent residents who have lived in Australia for 
the 12 months prior to the application closing date.

Initiating Grants for Young Investigators
Open to prospective research students for post-graduate research 
scholarships tenable in research departments at Westmead Hospital and 
Westmead Millennium Institute; support for one year at the level of NH&MRC 
stipends; stipend enhancement support for students who achieve external 
awards of value less than the value of the Initiating Grant.

International Fellowship 2003-2004
Open to women who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United 
States to study at the graduate or post-graduate level in the US; 
applicants must complete an academic degree equivalent to a bachelor's 
degree from a U.S. college or university; must be proficient in English; 
Masters/First Professional @$18,000; Doctoral @ $20,000; recipients may be 
eligible for the Home Country Project Grant ($5,000-$7,000).  One 
scholarship is for a Australian woman in biological and physical sciences.
