Postgraduate Scholarship in Ethnopharmacology
Open to candidate to commence PhD studies in 2003 in the Faculty of 
Pharmacy; applicants should have an honours degree (H1 or H21) in a health 
sciences related field such as pharmacy and medical sciences; with skills 
and research experience in the area of pharmacokinetics, drug analysis 
and/or molecular biological methods will be given priority; 3 years @ 
$22,771, possibility of extension for 1 more year; 6 months probation.

Whiteley Industries Postgraduate Scholarship in Biofilm control on Surgical 
Instruments
Open to candidate with a good honours degree in science or a related field 
to undertake research studies leading to a MSc or a PhD in medicine; 
applicants should have a particular interest in infection control; 1 year @ 
$17,000; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Chemistry
Open to candidate with a good Honours degree in Chemistry or a related 
field to undertake research towards a Master of Science degree; skills in 
chemistry are desirable, ability to adapt to a range of disciplines readily 
is an advantage; 2 years @ $22,771 pa (in 2002); applicants must be 
permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

Postgraduate Scholarship in Bioorganic Chemistry
Open to candidate with a 1st Class or 2nd Class Division 1 Honours degree 
in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related subject, to undertake 
research studies leading to a PhD in bioorganic chemistry; $18,009 pa; may 
be renewed for up to 3 years, max. $5,000 relocation expenses available to 
students outside the Sydney area who move to Sydney to take up the 
position; applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Physiology in the Laboratory of Exocrine Physiology and Biophysics in the

Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) on Glycaemic Index of Foods
Open to candidates with Honours 1 or higher 2A equivalent qualification in 
nutrition and dietetics and a proven research record in human subjects; 
project planning and management skills, ability to work independently and 
as part of a team, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are 
essential; 1 year @ $23,294 pa (in 2003); possibility of extension for 1 
more year, applicant must be Australian citizen or permanent resident who 
has lived continuously in Australia for the last 12 months.

Australian Antarctic Science Top-up Scholarships
Open to students who have qualified for an Australian Postgraduate Award 
for study towards a PhD; applicants must contact the relevant Antarctic 
Program Leader before submitting an application; applicants must ensure 
their proposed study is relevant to Australia's Antarctic Science Strategic 
Plan; max. $5,016 pa.

Summer Research Scholarship in Pathology
Open to student currently enrolled in a science degree (preferably with 
Honours experienced in a Pathology Department), the student will undertake 
a review and collation of clinical pathology specimens available for 
research within the Pathology Department; 4 weeks @ $1,000 per week (38 
hours per week).

The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarships
Open to graduates to pursue courses of research leading to a PhD at the 
University of Cambridge; applicants must be citizens of Australia who have 
a 1st class honours degree from an Australian university, have gained 
admission to Cambridge, and have won an Overseas Research Student award; 
tenable for 3 years, covers fees at the UK home rate, maintenance allowance 
at £7,080 pa (2002 rate), airfare to Cambridge and the return fare at the 
end of the course.

University College London (UCL) Graduate Scholarships for 2003
Thames and Hudson Scholarship:  Available for the programme of MA in 
Comparative Art and Archaeology; up to £15,000 or a number of scholarships 
totalling that value.
Follet Scholarship: Available for the programme of MPhil or PhD in 
Philosophy; £10,000.
James Lanner Memorial Scholarship: Available for the programme of MSc in 
Economics, MSc in Environmental Resource Economics, MPhil or PhD in 
Economics; £5,000.
Lloyd’s Register Scholarship: Available for the programme of MSc in Marine 
Engineering and MSc in Naval Architecture; £10,000.
Keeling Scholarship: Available for the programme of MPhil or PhD in 
Philosophy; covers tuition fees + a bursary.
