This is a reminder for:
Title: Ali Navabi
Death in Damascus
I am destined to die but either in Damascus or Aleppo. I am sitting in
Aleppo airport, brooding on my sinister destiny and deliberating on whether
I am going to stay in Aleppo or fly to Damascus. By deciding to stay in
Aleppo or to fly to Damascus I can violate locality by determining where
Death is heading at a distant place. I show in this talk how this simple
story poses a threat for David Albert's, Douglas Kutach's and Barry
Loewer's explanation of why agents can successfully deliberate about the
future but not the past in terms of the low entropy condition of the early
universe. I argue that the Albert-Kutach-Loewer theory can safely evade the
threat once the story of Death in Damascus is properly understood.
