Abstract:  I will review, develop, and endorse arguments by Arthur Danto  
(about act descriptions) and G. H.
Von Wright (about narrative explanations as nonlawlike). Then I will  
suggest that there is an
important connection between narrative explanation, so understood, and  
moral philosophy.
In order to do moral philosophy in a realist spirit, one needs what Dieter  
Henrich calls
"a moral image of the world" in order to address the problem of orientation  
fruitfully.
