Hi Folks,
Dr Tumanov seminar which got cancelled at very short notice, has been rescheduled for the 12th April. See the details below.
Kind regards,
Ben
Title: "Heavy": How mass spectrometry-based stable isotope tracing can shape our understanding of cellular metabolism
Who: Dr Sergey Tumanov, Ph.D., Post-doctoral Scientist, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
When: Friday 12 April 2019, 12:00 PM
Host: Roland Stocker, Head Vascular Biology
Where: Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
Biography: Dr Tumanov is a postdoctoral research scientist in Prof. Roland Stocker 's laboratory at the VCCRI. His current work is focused on understanding the metabolic alterations in atherosclerosis that lead to unstable plaque development and discovering new molecular imaging targets for
identification of high-risk atherosclerotic plaques.
Sergey is originally from Belarus where he received his BSc and MSc in Analytical Chemistry, working in the field of bioanalytical chemistry and chemistry of bioconjugates. After graduation he was invited to start his PhD project at Auckland University in Dr Villas-Boas' laboratory studying metabolism in yeast. After completion of his PhD he joined Dr Jurre
Kamphorst's laboratory at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow, Scotland, where he worked as a post-doctoral research scientist on the utilization of 13C- and 2H-tracing and MS-based techniques to study lipid metabolism in cancer. This work included studying lipid droplet homeostasis in renal cancer, as well as cancer cell - fibroblast lipid cross talk and mevalonate pathway alterations in pancreatic cancer.
