This actually sounds like a candidate for some sort of
sample selection model.  There is a selectivity model for
the MNL in LIMDEP.

Hello all,

With respect to my previous post about the occupational choice model, the
key question perhaps is whether a nested (or a multinomial ) logit is not
stable if one only has variables that are individual specific  - variables
that vary only by individual and not by choices. In my model all my
variables except one (earning that varies by occupation), are individual
specific. Could this be causing the problem?
