ICRAR/UWA Domestic PhD Scholarships

ICRAR is one of Australia’s leading astronomical research institutes. Established in 2009 as an equal joint venture between Curtin University and UWA, ICRAR plays a prominent role in the international SKA Project and is recognised globally for its research excellence.

ICRAR/UWA hosts a vibrant, collaborative, and friendly research environment where PhD students engage in cutting-edge projects in observational and theoretical astrophysics. Their work often involves "Big Data" methodologies and technologies. Researchers at ICRAR/UWA play leading roles in programs that exploit state-of-the-art radio telescopes, extensive multi-wavelength datasets, and the latest galaxy formation models run on powerful HPC facilities.

Fully funded PhD scholarships are currently open for domestic students, and include tuition fees, health insurance, living allowance support and research/travel expenses.

For details about ICRAR/UWA's PhD program, including eligibility requirements and potential projects, visit the ICRAR/UWA webpage<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/oKMgCwV1vMfPXDXM5U9iGpsJd-TL?domain=icrar.org>. Applicants must identify a proposed project here<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/nHsPCxngwOfBK2K6pswsErsygghO?domain=researchdegrees.uwa.edu.au>, and contact the project lead prior to starting an application.

Importantly, applicants are only typically deemed appropriate for the award of a UWA-funded scholarship if they have a combined thesis plus coursework WAM average mark of above 80% in an existing qualifying degree. Further information can be found in the UWA advice for applicants<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/FpboCyojxQTJElEvGhNtm0sx6X3-?domain=assethub.uwa.edu.au> and research scholarship page<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/agWRCzvkyVCnv0vlXiwu7js9aGFH?domain=researchdegrees.uwa.edu.au>.

Applications are invited through the University’s HDR Application Portal, here<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/2jijCANpgjCVMvMyxi2C9QsGzuQr?domain=researchdegrees.uwa.edu.au>. If you have any issues with this, please contact A/Prof Luke Davies at phd_uwa at icrar.org.

Situated on the banks of the Swan River, UWA is one of Australia’s most picturesque campuses. Its open courtyards, lush gardens and beautiful surroundings provide a place to study and relax, whilst taking advantage of Perth’s beautiful climate. ICRAR/UWA is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse research community. As a holder of the Gold-status Pleiades Award<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/escbCBNqjlCA3g3QxCrFyjs2iLUh?domain=asa-idea.org>, ICRAR/UWA encourages applications from women and individuals underrepresented in STEM.
