[ASA] Restore Science campaign

To all members of the ASA:

I’m writing to bring the Restore Science campaign <https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/LwAtCoV1kpfBE23W6F1fLcpSHSs?domain=restorescience.com.au> to your attention and asking you to take an active part.

Restore Science is the biggest lobbying campaign ever undertaken by the Australian Academy of Science. The campaign’s goal is to encourage government and business to back Australia's ability and restore investment in science. It seeks to raise the profile of science in Australia with the public and to make the case to government and business that investment in science is needed to keep Australia competitive on the world stage. 

The extent of the problem is illustrated by this shocking graph showing Australia’s relative expenditure on R&D as a percentage of GDP since the year 2000...



So I’m asking that you take some action to reverse this decline in support for Australian science. Specifically, that you (a) email your MP <https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/LwAtCoV1kpfBE23W6F1fLcpSHSs?domain=restorescience.com.au/> using the template on the Restore Science website, (b) look at ways to spread the word <https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/R52lCp81lrtvm436pfDhQcGwEL9?domain=restorescience.com.au>, and (c) consider donating to the campaign <https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/4WxrCq71mwfzZYjwJhQikcEFXKI?domain=science.org.au>.

There are a variety of ways to engage with the campaign and contributions on all scales help, so please consider giving some of your time, effort, and money to supporting Australian science!
