Dear Australian Astronomers,
You may have seen that ESO has announced a Fast Track Channel to receive proposals out of the normal yearly call. The call is designed for 'new and timely scientific ideas' that were not able to be submitted in the yearly call. I would like to point out that this includes for scientific reasons such as new projects, and non-scientific reasons such as extended leave.
Pleas see the below links for more information.
Best wishes,
Sarah

Subject: ESO Fast Track Channel call 117A
Esteemed colleague,
I am contacting you as an active ESO Principal Investigator or co-Investigator.
As first announced in the ESO Messenger<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/j7mtCgZ0N1imgQoQBSNf7U4G9FD?domain=eso.org> and more recently in the Call for Proposals for P117<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/HpvaCjZ1N7i36NBNOHRh8Um4Zq9?domain=eso.org> (Section 2.1, p.4), ESO is introducing the Fast Track Channel (FTC) for the submission of proposals. The first FTC Call is planned for late May/early June 2026, for observations starting on September 1st and covering a period of four to six months. The exact time range will be announced in the formal FTC Call for Proposals.
An online Town Hall meeting will be held on May 20th, 16:00 CEST via MS Teams. The meeting will include a general presentation on the FTC, followed by a question-and-answer session. It will be recorded and made available online for those who are unable to attend. Further details, including the link to join the meeting, will be shared in the coming weeks.
More information on the FTC is provided in this web page<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/V374Ck81N9trLGKGwTQiLUGp1-i?domain=eso.org>, which also includes a tentative timeline for the submission, review and release process.
If you have any questions, please do not reply to this email. Instead, use the ESO Operations Helpdesk<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/KuvVClx1NjiA94V4MiqszUzmw7G?domain=support.eso.org> to submit a ticket.
Best regards,
