Dear astronomy community,
Thank you for your continued engagement with the astronomy decadal planning process. This email is to provide 2 important updates - the editorial board selection, and the announcement of in-person and virtual town halls. I also attach my presentation from the recent ASA ASM providing more information on the decadal plan process and progress.
Editorial Board:
I am pleased to announce the DP Editorial board has been selected by NCA as follows:
*
Virginia Kilborn - Chair
*
Sarah Brough - Deputy Chair
*
Cathryn Trott - member
*
Tamara Davis - member
*
Michael Ireland - member
*
Chris Power - member
Thank you to members of the editorial board for agreeing to take on this role.
Decadal Plan town halls:
We will be holding a series of Decadal Plan town halls in most states/territories over the coming 3 weeks to discuss initial outcomes from the working groups, and provide the opportunity for discussion.
This is an important step in our decadal planning process, and to ensure broad participation from across the astronomy community both in-person and virtual attendance options are available (meeting link will be shared upon registration).
Town halls will be held in locations across Australia from July 18th to August 2nd:
Swinburne University of Technology (July 18, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
University of Queensland (UQ) (July 23, 12:00 PM - 3 PM)
Australian National University (ANU) (July 25, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
University of Tasmania (Hobart campus) (July 29, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM)
University of New South Wales (July 30, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
University of Western Australia (Aug 1, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
University of Adelaide (August 2, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Registration is essential for both in-person and virtual attendees. We encourage participants to submit questions to the working groups in advance via the registration form:
Please register for the town halls using this Link<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/LsOBC0YKPviJ8LngzIwAYke?domain=surveymonkey.com>
If you have any questions about the registration process or the town halls in general, please don't hesitate to reach out to swastika devi at swastika.devi at science.org.au.
Thank you for your support and hope to see you at one of the town halls over the coming weeks.
cheers,
Virginia
