AAT 50th Anniversary Symposium
2nd to 4th October, 2024

Second Announcement

We are pleased to announce that registration for the AAT 50th Anniversary Symposium is now open. The Symposium will be held at Siding Spring Observatory and will highlight the AAT's past achievements, present status, and plans for the future.

The form<https://url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com/s/xG-tCROND2un0G4LGF9kqyp?domain=mso.anu.edu.au> to register is now available. Registration will close on June 30. There is no registration fee.

The number of participants will be limited to 70 people. The list of participants will be finalised on July 5.

Accommodation and Travel

While there are plenty of accommodation options in Coonabarabran, it is important that you book early.  The Symposium will be held in the week before Starfest, which is a popular event run by the Observatory.

Travel between Sydney and Coonabarabran will be organised for October 1st and October 5th.  On October 1st, the departure time from Hornsby station will be 10 am with arrival in Coonabarabran around 5 pm. On October 5th, the departure time from Coonabarabran will be 1 pm with arrival at Hornsby station around 7 pm. Please use the registration form to register your interest. A small fee to cover the cost of the bus may apply.

Travel between Coonabarabran and the Observatory will be available on each day of the Symposium.  Please use the registration form to register your interest.


Social Events

There will be several social events during the Symposium. A free welcome reception will be held on October 1st and the conference dinner (expected cost $55) will be held on October 3rd. Please use the registration form to register your interest in attending these events.

In addition to the Symposium, Starfest will run from October 4th to October 5th. Starfest includes Science in the Pub (October 4th), SSO Open Day (October 5th) and the Bok Lecture.
