Dear ASA Members

The ASA has partnered with P&O to provide speakers on a cruise to observe
the total solar eclipse on April 20, 2023. As a result of this we have some
free trips to give away to members. These fall into two categories, as
explained more fully below:

   1.

prizes for preparing high quality eclipse information (for use on board
   or more broadly);
   2.

a random draw from the membership.

The P&O ship The Pacific Explorer will sail from Fremantle on April 17 and
position itself in the path of totality, in the harbour of Exmouth, for the
eclipse on April 20. Totality will last for about 76 seconds.

1. Two Free Trips for ASA Members

The ASA will award two free trips (each for up to two people) as prizes for
the production of high quality material relevant to the eclipse. There are
no restrictions on the kind of material - be creative! This can be for use
on board or more broadly for the public, or schools, or whatever you wish
to prepare. Note that you must find your own way to and from Fremantle.

Please submit your material/design to me (john.lattanzio at monash.edu) by 15
Jan 2023. Winners will be announced soon after this date.

2. A Random Draw for Three ASA Members

In addition there will be a random ballot for three free trips (for up to 2
people each). One of these is reserved for student members, and the other
two are open to all (non-student) members. Please note that this is an
opt-in ballot. In particular, note that by requesting to be included you
are agreeing to finding your own way to and from Fremantle.

If you wish to be included in this ballot then please fill in the
appropriate Google Form,

either the Members Ballot <https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/2ltECD1vlpTBl7PoECAQHop?domain=forms.gle> or the Student
