[ASA] ESO vacancies for User Support Astronomer and Instrumentation Engineer/Physicist

Dear ASA Members,

  On behalf of the Dept. of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources I'd like
to draw your attention to the roles currently available with ESO, in
particular, the User Support Astronomer and Instrumentation
Engineer/Physicist positions closing in mid-January 2021. A number of
established astronomers and technical staff in Australia got their start as
ESO Fellows, User Support astronomers or engineers at ESO, highlighting how
these roles can provide an excellent springboard to a fulfilling career in
Australia.

  With the Australian Astronomy Decadal Plan Mid-Term Review reinforcing
Australia's commitment to full ESO membership, and the current Strategic
Partnership, this is an excellent opportunity for Australian scientists and
instrumentation specialists to play a key role. Australians enjoy the same
preference in recruitment as those from ESO member states, and while we
acknowledge the current COVID situation in the northern hemisphere makes any
international move daunting, the anticipated rollout of COVID vaccines and
other measures throughout 2021 should help ameliorate this. Here are all the
