It is our pleasure to invite you to a webinar on Adaptive Optics in Astronomy and Beyond, on Friday December 4, 2020. This online conference is jointly organized by the Australian National University (ANU, Australia), the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL, France) and the Università di Padova (UniPadova, Italy). Time: 8:00am to 10:15am Central European Time (CET)/ 6:00pm to 8:15pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).

The Vice-Chancellor of ANU, Prof Brian P. Schmidt (an astronomer and winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics) along with the President of Université PSL, Dr Alain Fuchs, and Prof Fabrizio Dughiero, Vice-Rector for Innovation at University of Padova, will welcome the participants.
In this webinar, six leading scientists and researchers from these partner institutions will review the development of Adaptive Optics and present its latest realizations, both in astronomy and other areas such as medical sciences. Please join us to hear from:
• Marie Glanc, research engineer in charge of the biomedical activities at LESIA / Observatoire de Paris-PSL.
• Céline d’Orgeville, professor at ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, leader of the Laser Guide Star activities at ANU Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre (AITC).
• Roberto Ragazzoni, Director of the Astronomical Observatory of Padova and member of the Accademia dei Lincei.
• François Rigaut, professor at ANU and Adaptive Optics Principal Scientist at AITC.
• Gérard Rousset, leader of the high angular resolution scientific team at LESIA / Observatoire de Paris-PSL.
• Valentina Viotto, researcher at the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), Observatory of Padova.
With introduction by Claude Catala, former President of the Observatoire de Paris-PSL and moderation byDamien Gratadour, associate professor at Observatoire de Paris, PSL and Instrument Scientist at the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics, ANU.
Attendees are welcome to participate in the discussions and questions can also be provided previously, via the registration link. The conference will be fully recorded.
