The Research Centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrophotonics
(MQAAAstro) at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia invites highly
qualified candidates to apply for a three year Macquarie University
Research Fellowship.

The 12 faculty work with their groups in the areas of planet and star
formation, stellar and binary evolution, Galactic archaeology, the
Galactic interstellar medium, galaxy formation and evolution, cosmology,
and astronomical instrumentation. The group enjoys strong links to the
Australian Astronomical Observatory and the CSIRO Astrophysics and Space
Science group, both located nearby.

Applicants are eligible only if their PhD was awarded after
approximately March 2015, or will be submitted by the end of August
2018, although significant career interruptions will be taken into
account in determining eligibility. The fellowship comes with up to
AUD$50,000 of travel and equipment money over the three years. Salaries
are expected to start at AUD$88,420 (Level A6). During their
fellowships, researchers are encouraged to apply for additional external
and internal funding.

Macquarie University is set in an appealing parklike campus, equipped
with its own train station, approximately 30 minutes' train ride to the
Sydney CBD.

Expressions of interest should be sent to Anne-Laurence Bibost
(a.bibost at mq.edu.au <mailto:a.bibost at mq.edu.au>) by 17 May 2018,
including a CV and a brief (up to one page) research interest statement,
possibly (but not necessarily) linking to the interests of academic
staff. Following successful pre-selection, candidates will be mentored
on how to apply for the application first round, which has a deadline at
the end of May 2018. If selected, the deadline for a full proposal will
be in late August 2018, with outcomes to be announced by mid-November.
