[ASA] AAO Users Community Survey

Dear Colleagues,

The Users’ Committee of the Australian Astronomical Observatory (AAOUC, http://www.aao.gov.au/about-us/AAOUC) is a committee dedicated to provide advice to the AAO Director on operational and development issues relating to the facilities provided by the Australian Astronomical Observatory.

The AAOUC held its bi-annual meeting on Tuesday 27th June, 2017, where it discussed the future of the AAO and the issues related to its transition out of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.

At this stage, it is anticipated that the AAO will transition into two entities:

·       Australian Astronomical Telescope operations will be taken over by a consortium of universities led by the Australian National University.

·       The AAO's instrumentation capability currently residing at the AAO headquarters in North Ryde, will also be governed and funded by the research sector, but the details of the transition outside the Department still need to be finalised.

With this email we are soliciting input from the AAO user community on critical aspects of the AAO's future operations under these new arrangements.
The goal of this survey is to provide the AAO and all involved parties with an overview on the needs of you, as a user, for the next decade and beyond.
