Dear ASA member.

A quick reminder about AAL's Data and Computing Facilities Panel Session tomorrow over lunch at the ASA meeting in Canberra (1:15-2:15pm, Molonglo Theatre).

If you use or plan on using an Australian supercomputer for your science (NCI, Pawsey, gSTAR); collect, generate or analyse lots of data; or are simply interested in the latest technology available; please come along, listen and contribute with your questions and ideas.

The panel will be made up of the directors and managers of the largest facilities and services in Australia.

Thanks,
Darren (panel Chair, on behalf of AAL)

Dear All,

AAL is sponsoring a panel session at the upcoming ASA ASM 2017 in Canberra:
NCRIS Data & Computing Facilities Meet Astronomers
Where: Molonglo Theatre, When: 1:15pm - 2:15pm, 12th July 2017 (AEST)

The session is designed to provide astronomers with the opportunity to speak directly with NCRIS data and computing facility directors in order to: (1) increase the awareness of NCRIS data and computing services for Australian-based astronomers; (2) encourage Australian-based astronomers to leverage NCRIS data and computing facilities to boost their research efficiency; and (3) enable NCRIS data and computing facilities to better understand the needs of the astronomy community.

Panel guests include leaders from NCRIS data and computing facilities:
1.Dr. Michelle Barker (Deputy Director, NeCTAR)
2.Mr. Ian Duncan (Executive Director, RDS)
3.Dr. Ben Evans (Associate Director, NCI)
4.Prof. Jarrod Hurley (Swinburne Supercomputing Manager, gSTAR)
5.Dr. Neil Stringfellow (Executive Director, Pawsey)
6.Dr. Andrew Treloar (Director of Technology, ANDS)
Chair: Prof. Darren Croton (Swinburne University)

This is an excellent opportunity to ask your data and computing infrastructure-related questions and present your infrastructure needs directly to the facility representatives.

Should you have any questions/comments regarding this panel session, please feel free to contact myself: robert.shen at astronomyaustralia.org.au<mailto:robert.shen at astronomyaustralia.org.au>
Best regards,
Robert Shen
