Dear colleagues,
The AAO's International Telescopes Support Office (ITSO) and
Astronomy Australia Ltd are pleased to announce that registration is now
open for the 2017 ITSO Science Symposium, to be held at the Duffield
Lecture Theatre of the Mt Stromlo Observatory in Canberra from midday
Tue 16 May through midday Thu 18 May 2017. Following the previous ITSO
Science symposia in 2012 and 2015, this meeting will feature the
research being conducted with the international telescopes supported by
ITSO. The Symposium will feature invited and contributed talks from
leading Australian users of the Gemini, Magellan, Blanco, and Keck
telescopes and is open to everyone, not just current users. Students and
early-career researchers in particular are encouraged to attend, and
travel subsidies will be available. There will also be opportunities to
discuss instrumentation, time allocation, and data reduction for these
facilities. Registration is free, and lunch, a symposium dinner, morning
and afternoon teas, and transport to/from the ANU campus will be provided.
The deadline for registration is *Monday 1 May 2017*. For information
about the venue, accommodation options, a list of registered
participants, and to register your attendance please visit the symposium
web page <https://www.aao.gov.au/conference/ITSOsci2017>. We still have
some slots available for contributed talks, for which a title and
abstract should be provided in the registration form.
We look forward to seeing you in Canberra in mid-May.
Regards,
Stuart Ryder, on behalf of the symposium organising committee (Caroline
Foster, Elaina Hyde, and Joao Bento)
