Dear ASA members,

ANITA’s 2017 lecture series has commenced!

** This Friday brings David Parkinson from UQ on the topic of "Gaussian processes” **
** live streaming 2pm AEST Friday 7th April 2017 **

http://anita.edu.au/lectures/

David’s lecture will be live-streamed on the ANITA YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsbSpRiV6Dl0Lf9PJopEO5g). You can also follow along in an interactive Python notebook.

Last week’s lecture from Danail Obreschkow on Fourier Analysis is already going viral:

--------------------------------------------
Presenter: Danail Obreschkow

Title: Fourier Analysis

Abstract: Fourier analysis is a powerful mathematical framework built upon the idea of representing the world in waves and cycles. This lecture will introduce the basic ideas of this theory and illustrate them using numerical examples in the R language. After establishing the concepts of Fourier series, Fourier transforms and discrete Fourier transforms, the lecture highlights several key applications, including spectral analysis, aperture synthesis, data compression, mode decoupling and correlation functions.
