Greetings,
The IAU is asking for some big ideas to mark their 100th anniversary in 2019—it will also be 50 years since the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Proposed activities do not need to be a new project, they could be something that already exists and can be adapted to fit the scope of the centenary.
The format for how the year of events will be coordinated is still being worked out, but as with IYA 2009 it’s likely there'll be some big cornerstone projects that everyone can get behind, along with some core messaging that the broader community can get excited about rather than just the the fact that IAU is turning 100.
If you have ideas you’d like to submit, please send them to Pete Wheeler, IAU National Outreach Coordinator for Australia, at pete.wheeler at icrar.org<mailto:pete.wheeler at icrar.org> by April 30th.
Thanks
Regards
Pete
