AGMT Project System Engineer - The Australian National University

The Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics' Giant Magellan Telescope project and research program requires a high-level engineering team to develop innovative state-of-the-art instrumentation for observing the distant Universe, as well as for helping support existing RSAA telescopes at Siding Spring Observatory. This position aims to provide specialist technical management skills in support of the program in the area of structured Systems Engineering as well providing supervision and mentoring of junior systems engineer personnel.

The GMT Project System Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, development and analysis of complex Astronomical Instruments together with lead engineers and scientists from the various disciplines.

We require a minimum of 5 years' experience in Systems Engineering in large complex engineering or scientific projects coupled with a strong background in Astronomy or Optical Instrumentation and Project Management.

This position is for a three year fixed term period at the ANU Senior Manager 1 level (AU$98,499 - AU$103,359pa). The ANU offers generous remuneration benefits, including up to 4 weeks paid vacation per year, significant assistance with relocation expenses and 17% employer contribution to superannuation.
