Dear ASA members,

Astronomy Australia Ltd and Swinburne University of Technology are delighted to announce the launch of the Theoretical Astrophysical Observatory (TAO)!

https://tao.asvo.org.au/

TAO houses queryable data from multiple popular cosmological simulations and galaxy formation models. Results can be funnelled through higher-level modules to build custom mock galaxy catalogues and images. TAO will be particularly valuable to users of galaxy survey data.

Please let your local and international colleagues know about TAO, as it is accessible through the internet by anyone anywhere in the world.

The companion paper describing TAO can be found at http://arxiv.org/abs/1403.5270.

TAO is part of the All-Sky Virtual Observatory (ASVO) and is funded and supported by Astronomy Australia Limited, the National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources (NeCTAR), and Swinburne University of Technology.

Kind regards,
Darren Croton, TAO project scientist, Swinburne University of Technology
Yeshe Fenner, AAL
