Dear STA Presidents and members,

It is on again!

Another of the highly-successful Science & Technology Australia Members Skills 
Workshops will be held on Thursday November 21 this year, the day before the 
STA Annual General Meeting, in Canberra.

*The workshop is free and offered exclusively to members. *

Building on the 2011 initiative, STA will again provide a day-long series of 
talks on the key issues in running a scientific society or 
similar organisation. Issues covered will include:

  * Society governance
  * Legal issues
  * Cost effective websites
  * The growing world of social media and how and why to use it
  * Declining membership numbers, and
  * Event and conference planning.

Acknowledged experts in these areas will present talks, with plenty of time 
for questions and discussion. A new feature this time will be member society 
case studies, where a society reports back on their experience of making 
change. Discussion will focus on how well the process worked, and the ultimate 
impact.

A detailed program will be available closer to the date and will be placed on 
STA?s website, but put your name down as there are limited places.

*What:* STA Members Hands-On Skills workshop.

*When:* Thursday November 21, 2013, 9.30am ? 5pm.

*Where:* Canberra (exact location TBC)

*Who should attend:* Any STA member who has a role in running a society or 
similar group or would like to know more about what it involves. All STA 
members are eligible.

*How do I sign up:* Formal registrations will open very soon, but if you would
